John's POV

All I could do was stare in shock. Sure, me and Alexander were great friends, but to go as far as to say he was in love with me? That was preposterous.

"You're joking, surely," My voice was cracking and I could see on her face that she was dead serious.

"He told us yesterday," She whispered.

"But...but he's a guy."

"I know. Men can love other men, John. I know it's a big sin in your time, but it's much more widely accepted in mine."

"Wait, seriously? What about the thing that it says in the bible? Something like 'no two men shall lie in bed together' or something like that?"

"Sarah told me about that passage originally being along the lines of 'no man and boy shall lie in bed together' so it was supposed to be about pedophilia, not sodemy." She seemed to cringe at the word. I guess they had different terms in their time.

"I can see you're uncomfortable saying that, Allison. You can use the terms that you're used to."

"Thanks John. Alexander was with us last night because he was going to talk with a friend of ours about homosexuality. You must understand, Alex was 10 times worse than you when he found out. That's what got Sarah so mad yesterday."

"...I don't know what to say."

"I know, I know. Alex wasn't going to tell you because he knew you wouldn't feel the same way, but I kinda got put in a weird situation."

"That's not what I meant."

"What?"

"..can I talk to your friend too?"

Chloe's POV

"Hey John? I need to borrow you for the night. Meet us at the edge of town in an hour, ok?" I whispered in his ear. It was a week after John told Allison he wanted to talk to the other Jon, and it still hadn't happened. We were postponing it as much as possible so we could come up with a plan to get John and Alex together. We finally had an idea and we were going to execute it tonight.

John looked at me and nodded, excusing himself from his seat and leaving the bar. He was probably going to go grab night clothes. We warned him that when he came with us to meet Jon, he probably wouldn't be back until the next day. It seemed pointless that he had to go get his own clothes since we still had his modern pjs at the house, but a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do.

I saw Sarah whispering to Alexander, moving on to step two of the plan. She was inviting Alex over as well, but neither he nor John knew that the other was going to be there.

I ran out the door and started making my way across town. I had to get home to meet with Jon to make sure he was clear on the plan, and I only had 50 minutes left. Shit.

When I finally got to the time portal, I still had 35 minutes until John and Alex were going to show up at the house. Good.

We had recently figured out that, for some crazy reason, our phones still worked in the past. Don't ask me how we had service, none of us had any clue. I guess they were magic, just like the portal itself.

If I ended up needing extra time, I could text Sarah and Allison to stall Alex and John.

I brushed my fingertips against the glyph and waited impatiently as the light flooded the room and I was sent back to my closet in 2018. I quickly changed into more modern(and more comfortable) clothing. When I got into the living room, Jon was already there.
