I slowly become conscious of my body.

I wish I hadn't.

That nothingness was way better than the sore feeling in my whole body. What the hell happened to me?

As I regain feeling, I notice that I'm on something very soft and comfortable. A bed? Huh, haven't felt that in awhile. There's an annoying beeping that just persists. Ugh it takes me back to when I was sick in the hospital. Not good memories. Wait hospital? Is that where I am?

I try to remember what happened, but when I do a sharp pain pierces through my head.

But why am I in a hospital?

I try to reach around for Reggie, but the pain keeps me from it. I hear the beeping speed up. Am I dying?

"Re-g-gie?" I croak out, my voice quiet and unsteady.

I get no response.

The beeping just gets faster. Where is he?! My head, which felt cloudy and slow before, clears up quite a bit at the thought of him being gone. I have to find him. Now.

I try to move my body, but the pain just fires up throughout my whole body. I let out a loud yelp at that. Goddamn. Whatever hospital I'm at, they need to step up their med game. If I wasn't so confused, panicked, and in pain, I probably would have let out a chuckle at that thought.

Just as I'm bracing my body for the wave of pain that'll come with moving again, I hear what sounds like footsteps in the room or hall next to mine. They're very big booming ones. It sounds like they're wearing metal shoes? Weird. I thought that they would just pass by but they stop and then I hear what sounds like a door sliding opening. I turn my head towards the sound, scared of this intimidating sounding person.

"Oh, you're awake." The deep male voice speaks. He seems to have a pretty confident and louder voice.

"W-whe-re's Re-ggie?" I ask, trying to sound fearless, but my weak and rough voice doesn't even come close to pulling that off. Well I tried at least.

"Reggie?" He questions, before seeming to realize who I'm talking about. "The dog that was with you?" I nod to that, not trusting my voice for now.

"Well-" He starts before he gets interrupted by another voice.

"What are you doing Cyborg?" A gruff female voice says. The voice is muffled, making me guess she was in the hallway. Funny, I didn't hear her approach.

"Oh, should I go get the others?" She asks him.

"No, you know the most about healing and stuff. She's probably in pain, I'll go get them." He says and then walks off with his booming footsteps.

"Alright, well, how are you feeling?" She says after a few seconds of silence. Seems like socializing isn't her specialty. Well I guess I can relate to that.

"H-h-" I try to use my voice and say horrible, but it doesn't come out right. She walks towards me, this time I hear the footsteps. She's very light on her feet. She sounds graceful despite the rough, deeper voice.

"Its okay, you don't have to talk. Just give me a number out of ten on your fingers. How would you rate your pain, one being feeling great, and ten being like you got hit by a bus." She offers an alternative that I am grateful for.

I hold up eight fingers. I don't quite feel like I was hit by a bus, but I don't feel amazing either.

"Alright, I can work with that."

"Wh-a." I started, she seemed to understand. I heard her moving around for a bit before I feel the bed moving me upwards. It hurts, but not as much as it probably would if I move by myself. I then feel her put a cup to my lips and help me drink. I feel relief in my burning throat as the cool water slides down. She pulls away when I seem to be done, and I decide to try my voice again.
