The drama finally faded out.
I was beyond relieved when everything suddenly went back to normal. Or kind of at least.
Paige and Luke still has some unresolved issues but was that any of my business? No. Was I going to support my friend 100% no matter what? A definite yes.
On a brighter note, Dominic joined the gang. Mikayla popped up here and there but overall it was now Luke, Kevin, Evan, Dominic and I.
With my eyes on the movie credits, my head against a certain someone's shoulder and our fingers intertwined, I suddenly had hope for my life becoming a better place.
Until big ol' Dominic opened his big fat mouth.
"I've always wondered...Where's your dad?"
In an instant the whole lovey-dovey mood was ruined and I couldn't help but send Dominic a glare when he wasn't looking. I sent out a big sigh as I knew it was about time. Dominic had opened up about himself so it was only fair I did so as well.
It was just...hard to talk about.
"He...passed away in a car accident."
"Oh." Dominic seemed to understand the subject was heavy. Whether it was obvious because of my words or the fact that I squeezed his fingers so hard it probably hurt, I didn't know.
"I'm sorry." Dominic said sincerely. I shakily inhaled and tried to focus on the warmth of Dominic's body against mine instead of the horror of that day. It worked a little.
With a shake of my head I leaned up to peck his chin. His lips tilted up into a crooked smile and he returned the favour, except he kissed the crown of my head.
The moment was short but definitely needed. Talking about my Dad's passing wasn't something I even talked about with Evan and he was my best friend since diapers, geez.
The two of us turned our heads when someone knocked on Dominic's door.
"Come in." I said, trying my best to attempt Dominic's husky voice. A small pinch from Dominic made me smile a little. I was still a little on the whole Dad subject so I wasn't exactly gleeful but at least Dominic's teasing demeanor made it more bearable.
Hallie, Maddison and Alya appeared in the doorway. Dominic's sisters all tried to hide their smiles by looking about weirdly but it was obvious they were up to something. Dominic and I released ourselves from our cuddle and was about to ask.
"What's-" They sprayed water on us.
Dominic cursed while I did a manly shriek, trying to shield the spurts of water from the water guns with my hands.
I heard Dominic growl quietly while dashing towards them, "I'm bringing you guys to your graves." Just that sentence made me throw my head back in laughter and rush up to watch Dominic attempt to cage his sisters in the hallway.
I didn't really have the energy to join in on the fun since my mind was still elsewhere, that elsewhere being that car accident all those years ago. While I didn't klander Dominic for bringing it up, like I said, it was about time. But I certainly hoped we could've dragged it out just a bit more. Have my mind just be...happy for a while.
However, the whole 'talk' was deemed a lot less horrible than I could've ever imagined. To think I was actually laughing right after telling Dominic. It was impossible yet Dominic made it possible.
My boyfriend, made it possible.
My train of thought was interrupted by Alya pulling on my arm, leading me away from the doorframe, AKA my shield because just as soon as I was out I was getting my clothes soaked. Alya laughed as she used me as protection and I tried to wriggle my way out without hurting anyone.
It was a lot harder than I thought because just a second later Dominic hugged me from behind and began forcing me out of Alya's grasp, "Don't touch him." He hissed. Although it was kind of hot - I have to admit - it was still a little annoying because now it was suddenly a tug of war. And I was the rope.
Maddison popped up out of nowhere as she pried their hands off of me all by herself while surprisingly screaming. "Join us on the other side!" I couldn't decide whether I was relieved or terrified. That was fucking creepy.
"Thanks, but no thanks." I said in a hurry to get the fuck out of there.
"Spenc-" Dominic began to roar, in the grasp of his oldest sister. Jesus Christ! They were monsters if they could hold down Dominic of all people.
"Save yourself!" I cackled and ran out from the house, but not before saying bye to their Dad who was flipping pancakes in the kitchen. I politely declined the offer of eating there while he gave me a weird look at my dripping clothes as I headed for the door.
Let's just say, I've been over to Dominic's house a lot. I was already deemed, 'future son in law'. It was a little weird being called that but, heck, I didn't mind it at all which is ten times weirder.
This was basically how my life looked right now. I was starting to sleep a little better (thanks to Dominic who made me feel okay), my relationship with my Mom had only improved as we now did lottery tickets together as a joke and I stopped smoking. Basketball practice was even harder than usual but that was only good as I hoped to do either that or photography in the future.
While I was going to miss Luke when he went to Australia for basket I was still happy for him as he was following his dream. Maybe we'd play together one day again, who knows!? Dominic started helping me with my math homework. Thank the lord. And in general...
Life was changing for the better, and that's just the way I want it.
My phone chimed. I looked down to see a message from Dominic.
"My sisters are idiots. Sorry."
"its ok mah dude" I quickly wrote out.
"Did you just call the guy you love 'mah dude'?"
"who tf said i love you????"
"You did."
"Oh yeh, i did :) i love you Nicky."
"I love you, too."
The End.
