Sherlock's flat
John stepped up to Sherlock's flat and held his breath. He creaked the door open and glanced inside. Sherlock was mumbling to himself and spun around and pointed at John.
"Right John?"
John gave a puzzled look.
"What?"
"Two sugars in you tea?"
"No sugar."
"Oh, it's all the same. I presume you came here for a reason."
Sherlock dumped the tea away and started to make another.
"Uh I actually, came to ask you about my wedding."
Sherlock handed John his cup and took a sip of his.
"And what about it?"
John sat down at the table and looked up at Sherlock.
"Well, uh.. It's coming soon... and I was wondering if you'd be my best man."
Sherlock froze for a second as if to analyze something then spoke.
"No."
"What do you mean no?"
"I mean no. I won't do it."
"And why not?"
Sherlock paused for a second.
"I have a case."
"On my wedding night?"
"Yes John,"
"You can't take a night off for my wedding?"
"Afraid not, terribly important case."
"You're a pshycopath! You're my best friend and you are going to my wedding!"
"I CAN'T JOHN!"
John stood a clasped his hands together.
"Right well then, if you don't want to tell me the reason you really can't go then I'm not going to bother arguing with you. But I damn well know you don't have a case."
John walked out the door and shut it with brute force.
Sherlock slumped down against the door and covered his face with his hands.
"I can't let you go."
John and Mary's flat
John sat at the edge of the bed staring into space. His fists were held tight and he turned to a quiet Mary.
"He said no."
"What?"
"He said no."
Mary got up and grabbed her coat, proceeding to walk out the door.
"Where are you going?
"To talk to Sherlock."
Sherlock's flat
Mary knocked on the door only to have it gently glide open. The door was unlocked? Why would it be unlocked? Sherlock was so careful about safety now more than ever that he hadn't even set foot outside since he'd come back. Mary walked a little further till she saw what had happened. Papers were thrown on the floor, glasses were smashed and the wall was covered in bullet holes. Mary took out her cellphone and quickly dialed John.
"John I think there's something wrong."
"What do you mean?"
"He's not here and the place is destroyed."
"I'l be right there."
A few minutes later John entered the building and walked into the flat. He looked at Mary and walked straight to the skull Sherlock kept on his mantle. He lifted it and sure enough he was right. He grabbed Mary's arm and dragged her out the building.
"I'm going to kill him."
Abandoned building
John pulled up to the building and slammed on the brakes. He turned over to Mary and smiled.
"I'll be right back."
John walked in the building and walked to a junkie sitting on the floor.
"You know where he is?" He said flashing a picture of Sherlock on his phone.
"The roof."
John started into a sprint running up the stairs and opened the door to the roof. Sherlock stood at the edge of the building looking at the setting sun. John snuck up on him and grabbed him from behind his waist. Sherlock swung his arms trying to escape.
"What are you doing? Get off of me you incompetan-"
"Oh. Hi John."
John dragged him to somewhere safer and stared at him.
"What in the bloody hell are you doing."
"Admiring the sunset."
"You know what I meant. High. Drugged up. Standing on the edge of a roof. Mere centimetres from falling off."
"If you think I was going to jump, been there done that. I'm not one for encores."
"You bloody idiot."
Sherlock tried to speak but was interupted by John wrapping his arms around him.
"Don't you ever do that again. Please."
Sherlock froze at Johns touch but then something changed. He had finally come to a realization, and slowly he eased into the hug resting his head between Johns neck.
John eased back slowly and looked at Sherlock.
"Alright, come on now. I have to take care of you. Mary's waiting in the car."
