(Y/N) Pov:

We all sat in the living room, not speaking. I sat on the large sofa while Baxter sat right next to me with a blanket around himself, still dripping wet from the incident earlier. He leaned himself against me, looking down at the ground.

Nobody dared speak.

We all just sat there listening as Vaggie yelled at Angel from her office just down the hallway.

"Ahem....I think I'm going to go out. Anyone want to join me?" Asked Alastor, getting up.

"Me" said Mimzy.
"I'll come too!" Said Niffty.
"Count me in" said Crymini.
"Sure, why not?" Grumbled Husk, taking off his hat and extracting a bottle of alcohol from it before putting it back on his head.

The five left the living room, just leaving me and Baxter alone, listening to Vaggie's yelling.

Charlie had gone to check on them a few minutes earlier.

"Thank you again for saving me" whispered Baxter.

"It was nothing. I wasn't gonna just stand there and watch you drown." I exclaimed, shrugging.

"No, seriously. You actually jumped in and saved me. I had just yelled at you, even blaming you for hitting me in the head with your book. You could have just left me to die like other demons would, but you didn't. Why?" He asked, looking over to me.

"I guess it's becuase I can't. I can't just let someone close to me die. Not again at least...." I say, trailing off.

He looked at me, confused.

"Don't worry about it. Maybe I'll tell you at some point. I have many secrets that no one knows. I haven't told anyone since I don't trust anyone." I say.

He nodded in understanding before looking back down at the floor.

"Listen, all those things I said earlier before the incident, they weren't true. I was just being an asshole to everyone I know....all becuase I don't like social interactions" He said.

"Figured as much. Why is it that you don't know how to swim anyway? You're and Anglerfish demon, after all" I asked, curiously.

"Maybe I'll tell you when I trust you enough" he said, looking up and smiling.

"Oooh, I see what you did there" I say, smiling and chuckling.

"Friends?" He asked, outstretching one hand for me to shake.

"Friends" I agreed, grabbing his hand and shaking it.

Time skip

Angel stood near the entrance to the living room, watching the two apologize and agreeing to be friends.

But he didn't want them to just be friends.

He had a plan.

Angel smirked and slinked away.
