'You cant blend in when you were born to stand out'

I walked along the left side of the classroom from the door. I walked up against the wall so i was out of people's sight. I took a seat at my desk and got my English book out of my bag and set it on my desk at an angle; Not caring how tidy it looked. Just as i looked up ,Maya, my best friend since we first started school together, walked in. Her hair, flowing down her shoulders and slightly curling at the ends yet matted to her scalp. Her eyes, bloodshot ... dark as if she had seen hell itself. Her face isnt as silky as normal. She has rough skin as if she had a tough night. Pain was written all over her face. I felt a tear fall down my face after seeing her in that state. She walked steadily over to a seat at the front of the classroom and slouched in it. It's not like her to act like such a damsel in distress. Mrs Corona was sitting at her desk with her hair in a loose bun, as usual. You would walk past her desk and smell her morning cup of coffee filling the air. It always sends a warm, happy feeling up your nose; even in the most disdressing of times. Mrs Corona had called for the class to settle down so she could call the register. Whenever everyone had quietened down, she had grabbed a pen from her pot of pens, and began calling the names. I blocked out everything the class and focused on the teacher's voice. It was soothing and easy to understand. I then heard my name and had to choke out a 'yes miss'. As i did everyone turned to look... blank faces all glaring in my direction. The time they were staring at me for felt like an infinity. I have never felt such embarrassment. I really should have answered with a clear throat... I would have blended in so much easier. Not everyone would have looked. I always end up making a fool of myself and I dont ever get anything out of it. Everyone had eventually turned back to the front of the class and left their distressing enotions still hanging in the air.
