"Come on we got this Autumn!"
It didn't feel like we had got this at all. Running is not one of my specialities let's say but in this instance I didn't really have a choice. It was run and live or stop and die. The choices weren't all pleasant right now but they were all I had and I was going to choose my future, not the predator.
I raced down the muddy track with the predator looming on me, my friend Tracy right on my heels. The trees stood above us at least 50 feet high and the roots randomly escaping its cage in the ground. Almost wanting me to trip up at every jump I made.
There seemed to be s clearing up ahead however I didn't want to stop just in case.
Although at this moment in time, stopping seemed a good idea as u could feel a sharp pain running across my chest; spreading around my heart. Cramps were building up in my legs as if to give away any second now. I needed to use every ounce of strength just to keep me going... This was not your normal stroll in the park!
My heart was racing at such a tremendous speed that I was afraid it would suddenly fail on me.
Tracy suddenly stopped in front of me.
"What you doing Trace? We're going to die!"
I was trying to skid to a halt but was failing miserably. When I finally came to a standstill I took a second to take in what was in front of me...
A cliff.
A huge, 400 ft. in the air cliff. I mean could my luck be any worst? There was only one thing to it, I needed to jump.
As I steadied myself to make the jump Tracy tugged on my shirt. Abruptly, I turned around with the most annoyed look I could make,
"What is it now?"
She nodded her head back a few times as if to say to look in that direction so I did, I could see a dark passage and I thanked God for allowing me a better chance to live!
We shuffled through the narrow passage way along side the cliff whilst at the same time holding hands.
My bright red hair seemed to lightly glow in the dark which was not good. If the predator was following, it would be sure to spot my hair.
That was when I smelt the rancid stink of which only meant one thing...
We had been found.
I grabbed Tracy's arm and we stopped; only our breaths a sign we were actually alive.
As a few seconds went by I ran through all the ways we could escape:
-we could run
-we could fight the thing off and probably die
-we could maybe...
Then something flashed a few feet away.
My thoughts all stopped for those seconds I thought would be my last. I tried to make a run for it but my legs stood there still. I could feel movement of Tracy edging away. Her hand slipped away from mine and with some hustling noises she had vanished! Left me alone in the dark with a predator.
I once again tried to get my leg to edge on sideways but there was no use... I had finally broken down.
I decoded this was the end and then I saw it's face. Tentacles wiggling off its face with the black mask covering its eyes. Giant claws escaping from it's fingertips.
Then...
I woke up.
