~Warning: Minor Maturity Warning~

Six Months Ago

Raven watched through her window as most of the Coven tore out of the house after her sister. She shook her head and turned. Talk about ridiculous. She sashayed from her room and down the hall. She found Immaliah waiting by the front doors.

"Little bird," The woman spoke, and Raven paused.

"Yeah?"

"You knew she was going to do this?" The matriarch didn't turn to look at her.

Raven grinned. "Yeah. Even egged her on a bit. That was what you wanted, wasn't it? To test her loyalty?"

Immaliah was silent for a long moment. "She's failed us. If she returns, little bird, she will be dealt with accordingly."

Raven shrugged. "Yeah, I figured as much. Let me know if they catch her." With that, Raven turned and walked away.

The dining room was big, immaculate, and homey. They were all gathered around the table. "Caleb? Where is she?" Demitri demanded, fear lacing his voice. Caleb's hands were braced on the table, his head was hung, his eyes were hidden. The huge, crystal bowl in the center of the large wooden table was filled to the brim with water, the water shaking. "I... I can't see her... Fang, she... she's out of reach."

Several groans echoed throughout the room. Raven just shook her head as she walked by. This was ridiculous. Fang was good at hiding, she had to admit. Leaning against the doorway, she studied the pathetic vampires in front of her. "You guys do realize she probably went to America, right?" All eyes turned to her in an instant.

"How do you know?" Caleb stepped forward, his eyes burning with something Raven didn't bother to guess at.

"Because I know my sister," She retorted plainly. "Try casting your psychic vision over that way. Probably somewhere wooded." Raven rolled her eyes at the stupidity of the others and walked away.

Four Months Ago

Caleb had been locked in his room for days, not eating, not sleeping. Searching for their missing wolf. On the morning of the third day, he came rushing into the dining room. Seven pairs of eyes turned to him. He looked awful- his skin paler than normal, bags under his eyes, his hair a mess. "I've found her," He announced. "Immaliah, I'd like your permission to take Raven, Malachi, and Raislin with me to watch over her." Silence reigned in the kitchen for several moments.

"No," She decided, and his shoulders slumped. "You'll take Malachi and Lyziztra. The others will remain here with the rest of the coven." She waved her hand in dismissal. "Now go."

"Of course, Immaliah, thank you," Caleb bowed his head in respect to his elder before walking away. He could feel the others behind him. This wouldn't be easy. But he would do anything for Fang. His heart throbbed painfully in his chest. He would never forgive herself if something happened to her while she was away from him.

The next morning, the three of them had taken refuge in an old cave to wait out the daylight. He leaned against the cool stone and shut his eyes.

The background was blurred, a mesh of green and gray. She was on her way out the door, trying to manage her bag, and she slipped. She started to go sprawling, half in and half out of her sweater. She gasped in surprise, but before she could hit the ground, he caught her in his arms. Their connection was the strongest in her dreams. He could touch her then.
