Chapter three

" wake up raine" sky says shaking me roughly. " wake up"

" no" I grumble turning over.

" raine you have to" she shouts.

" why" I whine.

" because the house is on fire" she shouts, seriously.

" what" I say, jumping out of the side of my bed. Only wearing my shorts and my sports bra, i grab sky's hand and drag her out of the room, heading towards mum and dad's room.

" if your looking for mum and dad there not here" she says.

" what!?, where are they then" I shout.

" I don't know" she replys.

I drop her hand and run to the top of the stairs, but before I run down them I see the flames rising high at the bottom, blocking our way out. My eyes widen in fear as I run back into my room, sky hot on my heels. I run into my closet grabbing. The nearest jumper, which is my thin, white one and chuck on a pair of sneakers.

" how are we gonna get out" she asks, desperately.

" where gonna have to climb" I state, grabbing my phone and placing it down my bra. Sky's eyes widen in shock as to what, I had just told her.

" what do you mean climb?" She asks.

" I mean out the window" I say opening my bedroom window.

The cold air flows in, making my skin appear with goose pimples. I hug my self and make sure I'm warm, before putting one leg out the window, onto the vines. Thank god for them, otherwise we'd burn to death. Lucky sky brought her dressing gown and favourite heels, plus she wears pj shorts and proper tops abed. Unlike me.

" come on, we need to go" I say, getting both feet on the vines and steading myself.

Sky hesitates before finally doing the same as I did. I reach the ground first and then help her down. Fire engines and ambulance come, trying to put the fire out. An ambulance woman comes rushing towards us, looking us up and down, for injures.

" you two okay" she asks. We both nod. " okay, follow me".

We follow her to the ambulance, where she makes us sit on the bonnet, while having the oxygen thing. The lady wraps a blanket around us, as she waits for someone.A police officer comes over to us, smiling a little but it's soon gone.

" hello girls" he says.

" hello" I reply quietly.

" can I ask for names please" he asks.

" sky May Charles and raine may Charles" sky says, introducing us.

" we'll sky and raine, I'm officer peters, but you can call me mark, I'm going to escort you both to the police station in a minute, to call your parents" he says. We both nod.

About ten minuets later and the fires still not out but mark makes us get in the car. I still have the blanket wrapped around my shoulders because sky doesn't want it and I'm still freezing cold. make pulls away, driving towards the local police station.

As sons as we arrive, were both sent into a dark grey room, with cameras in every corner. I thought they were only going to call out mum and dad, not interrogate us.

" sky" I say.

" yeah" she yawns.

" do you think mum and dad were inside somewhere trapped downstairs" I asks.

" no, I think they might have gone out or something, like they always use to" she replys.

" okay, as long as their not dead" I smile but not to surely.

A police officer walks in with mark behind her. They smile at us before taking a seat in the two opposite us. I fake smile back as sky just sits there waiting.

" girls, I'm going to ask you some questions and I want you to be completely honest" the woman says.

" okay" sky says.

" okay. Where were you when the fire started" she asks, looking us directly in the eyes.

" asleep" sky says, confidently.

" and you" she says, looking at me.

" asleep too, sky woke me up as soon as she noticed it" I say quietly.

" okay" she says writing it down. " where were your parents when it happened".

" we...we don't know" sky says.

" okay, when did you last see them"

" dinner time, we all have dinner together every night" sky says.

" good, now what did you say your names were girls" she asks.

" sky may Charles and..." Sky says, but I feel the need to speak of myself.

" raine may Charles" I finish, sky looks at me shocked before focusing on the officer again.

" your parents names" she asks.

" Anne and phil Charles" sky says. The woman nods.

" okay, thank you girls, that's all for now" she says, standing up. Just before she leaves I pluck up the corsage to ask her something.

" um one minute" I say. She turns back around.

" yes"

" as soon as you find our parents can you let us know, I just want to see them" I say, tears filling my eyes. She sadly smiles at me.

" of course we will dear"

" thank you" I reply quietly, as she leaves the room, mark following.

Me and sky are sent to wait in some soft blue chairs by the office, where this really king man sits. He's hilarious, he keeps making funny joke making me fall and clutch my stomach with laughter. Sky was too until she fell asleep, with my blanket.

I sit there for five minutes,

ten minutes,

twenty minutes,

one hour,

Two hours,

Four hours,

Until finally I give up and stop looking at the clock. My parents aren't like this, the would be here by now. They won't leave us they just can't take the polices call right now. Maybe they have late night work.

I hope they get here soon..
