Lillian
**********By the time I made it to the bar the bears were sitting on the bar top. I grabbed them and started to make my way back to the table. When I was walking over towards the table I could see Sara standing there at the head of the table talking with the guys. I took a deep breath before continuing over to the table. I got to the table and set the beers down in front of the guys. Before I was able to turn away and go back towards the drink fountain Sara stopped me.
"Hey Lily. I want to introduce you to my best customers." She have a smile and turned her attention to the guys at the table. I gave an intern shake of my head because now that mystery guy would know my name. I tried hard to keep him in the dark. Sara didn't give me a chance to respond.
"This goof ball here is Chris." She gave a little smirk when she said his name.
"This is Andy and Jacob and this trouble make is Lucas." Now I knew the trouble makers name. I had a feeling even though I knew what his name was I still wouldn't be able to get him out of my mind.
"It's nice to meet all of you. Sorry for holding Sara back so much last time and today. Still getting use to this." I gave a little smile.
"Hey we have all been there. Do you know how hard it was to train Mitchell?" All the guys started laughing at the table except Lucas. I guess the guys call him Mitchell at the firehouse.
"I wasn't as bad as Reid. You're just mad that I'm just better than you." He gave a cocky smirk and Chris shook his head.
"I will grab the guys order if you want to go check on the other tables to make sure they don't need anything."
"Yeah no problem. It was nice meeting all of you. I am sure I will see you around." I gave a smile and walked towards the table with the two guys.
Once I made it to all the tables and got the refills if they needed it or the checks I went back to the little area that the other waitresses were standing in. Sara came over a few seconds later.
"How we looking at the other tables?"
"I gave the two guys another refill. The other two tables need their checks. I grabbed them and rang them out. Do you need help with the food for the firefighters?"
"No I just brought their food to them. They should be set for awhile." Now we had the rare moment to just take a breath to relax. After a couple more minutes the table of the two guys leave and we are down to the firefighters being the only table we had left. Sara did let me know that this was a slow night but she didn't seem to mind too much because once the other guys left she went to hang out at the table to talk to the guys. After cleaning are section I went over to the table to see if Sara had anything else for me to do.
"Hey I have cleaned up our section. Not sure if you want me to do anything else?"
"No. Tonight's really slow but why don't you stay over here. The boss won't mind because of how frequent these guys come in." Before I had the chance to object, Lucas grabbed a chair from the table behind him and pulled it up to their table.
"Sit down. No one else is here." I sat down next to Lucas and Sara. She gave me a smile and turned her attention to Chris. I was wondering if something was happening between the two of them.
"Tell me what brings you to Syracuse?" It was Lucas talking to me. I knew he now had ways to find out about me so I couldn't keep everything a secret.
"I'm actually a graduate student at Syracuse. Working on getting my MBA."
"Wow that's awesome. You are going to be busy with school and work."
"Yea but my apartment won't pay the rent for itself. I will want a little spending money when I do find time to relax."
"Well that's awesome that you are working so hard to get what you want."
"Yea it will be an adjustment moving here but so far this city has been interesting. Of course I haven't seen much of it yet. I got here a few days ago and started working the next day."
"If you ever want a tour of the city I will be happy to show you around." I paused and gave him a look. I didn't get the vibe that he was the guy that offered to give the new girl in town a tour of the city. He seemed to be more of the guy that would take a girl out for a night and the be done with her.
"I might take you up on that offer." He gave me a look like I had just given him a challenge and I knew that was my cue to get out of here while I could.
"Well it was nice getting to know you but I need to go check to see if we got anyone new." I knew that if we had anyone in our section we would be able to see them and we would have been notified. I got up before someone could stop me and took off towards the back of the restaurant.
The rest of the night I made my trips to the table scarce and when I did go I would make them short to not have to talk to anyone outside of the regular shorts questions. Sara would give me a look here or there to see if she could tell what was going on but I didn't give her any signs or acknowledgment. She took care of cashing the guys out and when they are gone I went back over to the table to start clearing the items off. As I was throwing the dirty dishes into the bin I saw another crumpled piece of paper. I opened it up and inside was another $50 bill with a note on the paper.
It was great getting to know you a little Lily. I hope you take me up on my offer. 315-555-5500
I just stared at the note. I couldn't believe he did it again and this time he left my number. I threw the money and note into my pocket and cleaned the rest of the table. The rest of the night we got a customer here or there but we weren't ever super busy.
By the time we closed everything was cleaned up already that we didn't need to stay late. I was back in the break room grabbing my items with the rest of the girls making some small talk.
"Hey Lily some of us are going out to Benjamin's tonight. You should come with us." I hadn't really been to any of the bars yet and figured it would be nice to get to know some of my other coworkers.
"Yea that sounds like a plan." I waited for them to all be ready and then followed them out of the building. It wasn't a long walk over to the bar and it was nice to just have a little bit of girl talk. We got to the doors and there was guy standing out front checking ids. Once we got stamped and made our way in the girls walked over to one area of the bar and grabbed seats at a table.
"I'm gonna grab beers for everyone." Sara walked over to the bar. It took awhile before I saw her walking back over to us. But she wasn't alone when she was walking back. I saw Chris and the other guys from earlier. It seemed like I wouldn't be rid of Lucas yet.
