I slowly opened my eyes, looking around to see where I was.
I was on the floor, on my back, with my little brother curled up on the side of me and Raina with her head on my thighs, sleeping away peacefully.
"Y'all wake up" I groaned sitting up. I moved my leg from under Raina, causing her head to drop and hit the floor. "Owww" she angrily responded, sitting up. "Why are you waking me up, it's Sunday?" She asked, closing her eyes and scratching her head.
"No, it's Monday and you need to go to school. Your bus is going to be here in 13 minutes" I staring at the clock on the wall. "Can I stay home? I want to be here with Ma" Raina asked me, sounding some what more awake.
'"No. We've only been in school for three weeks, how do you look skipping school already Rain?" I asked getting up from the floor and picking up a still sleep Ryan.
"Please? I wanna make sure Ma is alright. And plus, the 7 and 8th graders are mean to us 6th graders" she added with a frown.
“You may have the body of a sixth grader, bit if they bother you, show them that you have the fists of Senior..who plays a lots of sports and is strong" I slightly laughed.
"Alright, I guess. But what about Ma?"
I chewed down on my bottom lip and looked at Raina. "I'll make sure she's alright. Just go and please get ready" I quickly said. She gave me this are-you-sure look and I gave her a stop-talking-or-I'm-going-to-hit you look. She quickly jumped up and raced to the bathroom.
I was focused on now getting Ry ready for when his daycare bus came. Luckily, I gave him a quick wash up after he messed himself last night. I threw him on his little Spongebob shirt, jeans and small all black shoes.
While trying to get his small little jacket, when I heard two honks outside the house.
"Shit" I whispered when I realized the daycare van and bus was outside.
"Ssshit?" Ryan said with a little giggle.
"Please, please don't repeat that word Ryan" I begged carrying him out the room. "RAIN, THE BUS IS HERE!" I screamed at the top of lungs, running down the stairs.
"SSSSHHHIIIITTT" Ryan happily shouted as I continued to carry him. "Ry, please stop saying that, okay?" I begged, trying to his small book bag on his body. "RAIN, HURRY THE HEL- HECK UP!" I screamed as I heard up rushing out the bathroom.
"ALRIGHT, I NEED MY BOOK BAG" she shouted right after me as she ran into her room. Things were being thrown around upstairs and horns were being hooked outside the house.
Growing furious, I snatched Ryan up and screamed for Raina once again. I hurried outside with Ryan and gave him to the driver to place him into the daycare van. I looked at the bus parked in front prepared to pull off.
"WAIT" shouted me and another voice. I turned behind me and seen Raina giving me a nasty look as she ran past me to get to her bus that didn’t want to stop. “Bye, Raina” I rudely snapped. She waved without looking and quickly hopped in the bus.
I stood at the edge of the fence with my arms folded, watching both buses pull off down the street. I sighed, dropping my head. I slowly started walking back until I realized I had school too.
I stormed back into the house, quickly undressing myself.
I pulled my white T-shirt over my head on my way up the stairs towards the bathroom. I unbuttoned my jeans then struggling to to pull them down. Before I got them all the way off and started to make my way towards the shower, I noticed I had no time to take one. So, I had to resort to the ratchet “sink shower” as my mom called it.
