7 days Before Retirement Day

"Today is  3,600th day  on service as Chief of Agent assigned to International Cooperation and Foreign Affairs Services. 10 years to be exact. Seven days from now I will finally retired from serving the government. To be honest, I never thought of retiring early. Way back when I'm still working as Special Agent my goal is to be The Director General soon. Well, nothing is permanent in this world. Even our dreams can change. " -Gregi-

10:00 am  Gregorio Dizon aka Agent Gregi arrive in his office sipping coffee while checking his cellphone. 10 years on service Gregi never came to work late. The usual routine he will check his email and mission order bulletin after that he will turn his chair facing the glass wall watching the usual traffic jam in Manila. Today, Gregi is determine to rest  for good. His retirement is approved and in 7 days, Thinking of what to do first after 7 days he cannot come up with exact plan whether he will go vacation abroad or visit nearby province with beautiful beach. Only one thing is sure , he wanted to do it alone.

"Sorry for interruption Sir, the Director General wanted to talk with you" Secretary entered Gregi's office to deliver the important message. Gregi immediately turn his chair and answered "Coming in 3 minutes" Immediately went to meet the Director General on his office.

"Good morning Agent Gregi, how is the day of my most dedicated man" Opening approach of Mr. Franco Dela Paz, the Director General of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, the lead Anti Drug Law Enforcement Agency under the supervision of the Office of the Republic of Philippines. "I'm very well and good Sir" Gregi replied. 

"How old are you now Gregi? if im not mistaken your 35? " Director General said. "yes sir that is right " Gregi answered with a smile. "You are still young. This should be the peak year of your service. You are still active and effective to your position. You can even be the top choice for promotion. Who knows Gregi you can be a Director General someday" Director General  sounds like convincing Gregi to think twice about his retirement. "We received an intelligent report this morning about the Chinese Drug Cartel Syndicate operating in the Southeast Asian Countries particularly Vietnam and Thailand, The report said that in 90 days the operation to Philippines might start. We all know this cannot be in 90 days, it can be a surprise they already started the operation somewhere. You are the most expert on International missions like this. I cant think of anyone to work on this project except you" the Director General added.

Silent for a while, Gregi answered " My retirement was approved already.... and.. Im set.. i think" Very uncertain to his answer the Director General quickly response "Please consider. Think of it maybe you can consider accepting the project "

Gregi still not able to say anything, only sigh and stare far away. "Gregi, the President is expecting. You are the only trusted Agent to lead this Task. Remember the success of" Mariella Prima Drug Cartel Drug Syndicate Task Force one year ago? you impressed the world with that" 

"I will give my final decision in 2 days Sir, may I leave the office now?"  As soon as the Director General said okay Gregi leave the office.

Gregi was world renown for his global achievement of putting an end to the largest Drug Cartel Syndicate. The most successful mission of his career that impressed giant countries like USA, Japan,Columbia, Brazil, Mexico who also launched secret missions to capture Mariella Prima, the Queen of Drug Cartel Syndicate. An impossible mission that gave Gregi several awards and recognition from President of the Philippines and other countries. He was featured on many documentary program in international channels and became a social media icon where people call him "Hero of the New Generation" Whenever he's invited to speak for seminars and programs people will asked about the experience with Mariella Prima  mission. 

But behind the success of the mission, Gregi never ever spoke to media or any other interview about the story before the final day of Mariella Prima. the only answer he gave was, the mission is done.

Back to his office quickly light a cigarette play his all time favorite song "you are my sunshine" by Johnny Cash and reclined his chair. The usual routine Gregi does whenever he felt bad.
