Zonnique.

August and I were at iHop enjoying each others company. For the fourth time this morning, the name Langston appeared on my cell phone. I sighed and hit decline. I ran my fingers through my hair and picked up my fork. August looked up from his plate at me and squinted his eyes.

"Who was that?" He wondered, glancing over at my phone.

"Langston." I huffed, cutting my omelette. "Don't worry, I don't plan on answering."

He scoffed. "Why won't he just fuck off?"

"He wants answers." I shrugged, shoving the fork into my mouth. "I cut him off and he had no idea why. I never told him about you and me."

He nodded. "I'm kinda starting to think we should though, that way he'll have his answer and he'll leave you alone."

"I'm handling it, so you don't need to worry."

"Zonnique, i'm dead ass. Ignoring his calls is not handling it." He crossed his arms on top of the table.

"I don't care. He can remain clueless because I don't want him to interfere with this relationship and i'm happy, I don't want him to mess it up." I pouted and poked out my bottom lip.

"Oh come on." He chuckled. "What's the worst thing he can do?"

"Turn both of us in."

He stopped laughing and made a serious face. "You're right, forget what I said."

I giggled and continued to eat my vegetable omelette. It was so good, I ate the whole thing then gulped down my orange juice.

"Hungry?" August raised his eyebrows.

"I didn't eat dinner last night." I blushed. "And i'm on my cycle." I lied.

"Zonnique we had sex last night and we took a shower together this morning. I know your cycle is for another 2 weeks." He furrowed his eyebrows.

I blushed even harder. "Whatever. I'm hungry okay." I smiled looking at his full plate of pancakes. "You gonna eat those?"

He shook his head and pushed the plate towards me. I licked my lips happily and grabbed my knife and fork, shoving a piece of pancake into my mouth. Just as I did that, my phone rang. I rolled my eyes and ignored it.

"Aren't you gonna answer that?" August raised his eyebrows. "It's Rhonda."

"I'm eating." I glanced at him for a split second then began eating again.

August huffed and reached across the table to grab my phone, he answered it and said hello. After that his expression changed from blunt and nonchalant to flushed and surprised.

"August, what's going on?" I asked, wiping the dripping syrup from the side of my mouth.

He placed the phone down and stood up, grabbing his coat and grabbing my arm, pulling me out of my chair.

"What the fuck, get off of me like that!" I exclaimed, standing to my feet.

"Grab your phone and let's go." He grumbled. He sounded serious, but I didn't give a fuck. He didn't have a right to pull me out of my chair like that. I stood there, my feet planted and my arms crossed.

"Zonnique, I don't have time for you to be stubborn because you didn't like how I pulled you out of your chair. Come the fuck on before I whoop your ass." He huffed.

I chuckled, grabbed my phone and put my coat on. "You funny for that." I scoffed.

"Now come on." He grabbed my arm.
