MAY 23, 2009

It was night and Dorothea's parents were driving down countless never ending roads on a mission to pick up her elder sister, Elena. She had gone out to a party, ditching their annual family game night. However, once she got there she had a fight with her boyfriend and decided to call her parents to pick her up.

Dorothea loved car rides. She loved how everything was racing at their fastest speed outside of the window. She loved the environment of the pale moon and warm streetlights flooding in the window. She loved the low hum of the car engine and the desperate whirrs of the air con, hurriedly pushing out air in an effort to keep the environment cool. However, something about this night did not feel right.  At this moment she wanted all of her family to be home and safe, playing pictionary with their Aunt Jenna.

They finally reach the road that Elena is standing on, seeing her talking to some guy that is unfamiliar to them. Dorothea's parents honk the horn to communicate to Elena that they are there as she looks distracted. She eventually notices them and runs over to the car.

"Hey Lena how was the party", Dorothea said looking up to Elena.

"As good as it could be", Elena sombrely said as a response.

The rest of the road trip was relatively quiet, with some small talk and the eventual turn up of the late night radio. Dorothea was looking forward to the closeness of her home. She couldn't wait until everyone was back home with Jeremy and Aunt Jenna. The route the family usually go to go home had a broken of tree lying in the middle of it. Instead they had to use the wickery bridge.

Once they had crossed the Wickery Bridge, the wet road from the previous rain had made the car the family was in skid along the road. This resulted to the family's Volvo S Series to fly of off the bridge with the safety barrier being of no help.

Dorothea didn't remember much after that. In fact she only just remembered what happened before it. But she was clinging to the memory of her parents last moments for having been graced to be there.
