"Sit back down Chee"

I reprimand the small child, stirring the pot I was seated in front of

"I wanna mix!" She giggles, skipping over to my side

"No Chee, it's too hot" I push her away softly, giving her a warning look

"Can I watch?" She looks up at me with puppy eyes, pouting her lips

I sigh, patting my lap "C'mere"

She cheers, crawling onto my lap "you gonna see the princess?"

I hesitate for a second, looking down at her "I don't know Chee.. are you?"

She looks down into her lap, "my momma said she can't take me.. she's busy"

I sigh "you know what, if you ask your mom and she says it's alright, I can take you"

"Really?" She twists around so she was facing me, hopeful smile on her face

"Yes, really. Go ask!" I watch fondly as she squeals, running off

I laugh quietly, standing up and covering the pot.

I wipe my hands down the front of my apron, hanging it up.

Singing softly under my breath I walk to my window, watching the citizens of Hyrule town bustle about, preparing for the big ceremony.

As far as I know it's an induction, for the champions to swear their loyalty.

"Ms. Eve! Ms. Eve! Momma said I could go!!" Chee runs up to me, pulling on the hem of my dress

"Well then, we should get ready huh?" I take her hand, leading her to the small clothes chest "pick out a dress, okay?"

She nods eagerly, sifting through the box

I smile at her for a few moments, before turning to my own closet

Taking out a pale blue dress I lay it gently on the bed, looking over to see Chee has a similar dress

"Lookie! We can be twins!" She runs over, throwing her dress next to mine

I chuckle lifting her onto my hip "like sisters?"

She giggles "sisters!"

"Well, we should get ready" I drop her onto a couch, turning and grabbing a pair of tights "okay Chee, go put these on"

She runs to the bathroom, giggling like mad

I shake my head at her silliness, faint smile on my face.

She comes back out a second later, the tights inside out and backwards

"Chee" I laugh, taking her hand

"I think I did it wrong" she pouts, looking up at me.

I help her right her tights, tapping her head "Arms up"

She complies, and I slip the dress over her head, buttoning and zipping it up

"Look how pretty you are" I coo, looking at her fondly

"Your turn Ms. Eve! Put your dress on!"

I smile at her, taking my dress off and replacing it with the gown.

I zip myself up, smoothing the fabric

Chee gasps, looking at me with wonder "you look like a princess!"

I flinch slightly, but smile nevertheless "as do you"

She takes my hand, smiling widely "C'mon! It's gonna start soon!!!"

As if on cue the royal trumpets start playing

We rush outside, running together towards the square

"Excuse me" we push through the crowd to the front.

It was law in Hyrule that if a lady had a child they were automatically let to the front of gatherings.

Chee looks with wonder at the royals, her eyes shining

Zelda is standing before the 5 champions, her eyes scanning the crowd

We make eye contact, her brows furrowing in confusion before she looks away

"I, Zelda Hyrule, Princess of Hyrule, pronounce you: Mipha of the Zora-"

I zone out, not wanting to listen to the boring inductions

Did she still remember me?
Did she recognize me?
Does she miss me?

"Look Ms. Eve!" Chee pulls on my hand, pointing to where Zelda was now giving the warrior Link his mission

"Find Demon Lord Ghirahim, and put a stop to his antics" She looks down at the hero, something akin to worry in her eyes

"Yes, princess" he replies carefully, standing up tall.

"Go then, and bring peace to Hyrule"

Link nods once, before turning his back, heading through the now parted crowd

The people cheer, slowly dispersing as the princess and other champions leave, back into the castle

"I gotta tell Momma!!" Chee says, excitement in her eyes

"Let's go then" my tone is forced, but I smile at the child anyway

Chee pulls me through the streets to her house, running inside. "MOMMA!!'

She comes out a second later, her mother in tow

"Thank you for taking her, Evelyn" Chee's mother smiles gratefully at me

"My pleasure... Uh, I'm going to be, going out of town for a little bit. So I won't be able to watch Chee" I glanced back at the shops, where I could faintly see Link, stocking up for his journey

"Oh alright then. I wish you luck on your trip"

I nod, waving to Chee. I turn around, heading back into the town

"Well, guess I'm going on an adventure"
