Zarah's POV
Life.
A journey no one could avoid. Everyone wanted to make it through, yet no one could. It was a beautiful lie after all. And then, there was death, the painful truth. The end of it all.
As I looked down the plane's window, thousands of thoughts race through my head. What if I jumped? What would happen then? Would it really be the end? I had no answer for those questions.
My mind flickered back to our conversation earlier. I had asked him tell me more about Runaria, and he told me that I'll see for myself when we get there. I kept on bugging him until he finally agreed to tell me. I can be very persuasive, you see.
"Please Ayyan." I pouted. He shook his head, focusing on his driving. "Please," I begged him, batting my eyelashes.
"You know that won't work on me," he said, smirking. I humphed, and ignored him. If he's not going to tell me, then I see no reason why I should talk to him. "Fine," he said, after a while.
I smiled. No one can resist my charms, I thought triumphantly.
"Runaria is a land where Kings and Queens still exist, where culture thrives and art is appreciated. It's a place that welcomes people, and hardly lets them go." The way he described it was magical, although he didn't really tell me much. I made a mental note to ask Aysha more about it. That talkative will tell me everything I need to know.
Looking at him from the corner of my eye, I found him fidgeting; probably nervous about some thing. I decided to not talk to him about it. I looked at him again after a few moments—he was still fidgeting.
"Is something wrong?" I asked.
"No, no, it's fine. Nothing's wrong."
"Are you sure?" I raised an eyebrow.
"There's something you nee—" He didn't get to finish his sentence when Aysha knocked on my window telling us to get out of the car. I turned around to tell him to continue, but he had already left.
When I think about it now, Ayyan never told me what was worrying him. I mentally debated whether to ask him about it or leave him alone. I almost decided to ask him later, when I realized it was none of my business. He'd tell me when he's ready.
"Zarah, aren't you bored?" Aysha interrupted my train of thoughts. She had left her seat and was now staring down at me. I snuggled into my blanket, absentmindedly looking out the window.
I shrugged. "I don't really mind. Do you have something in mind?"
"Let's go and disturb your husband," she said, giving me that mischievous smile of hers.
I grabbed the book I brought with me. "No, absolutely not." I shook my head. "I'm gonna read, and you're going to disappear from my view. Now shoo," I said, looking for the page I left off.
"Oh, come on," she groaned.
"Play with your phone or something," I said, turning to page 189. Ah, exactly where I stopped.
"I'm tired of that. Besides, we used to do this all the time. I'm telling you, he doesn't mind."
"He's sleeping peacefully, let's not disturb him," I tried convincing her, glancing at the other side of the private jet we're on. The jet didn't surprise me like it should. They were the richest people I knew. Both Ayyan and his father had their own successful companies.
