"Kayla!" Sophie squealed as she ran to hug Kayla. Kayla smiled and hugged Sophie back. "Can I play with you and Jed?" Kayla smiled. It was Saturday, which meant race day for Hank. Kayla and Jed went early and watched Sophie. The races were always surrounded by carnival games and food. Hank usually went for test runs and met up with the other racers while Sophie stayed with Kayla.
"Of course you can!" Kayla said, smiling. Hank walked over and hugged Sophie.
"If you don't want her buggin' you yet I can always keep her with me." Hank told Kayla. "I don't wanna intrude on yer date."
"It's no problem, Hank, really. I actually kinda enjoy having her with. And Jed doesn't mind." Kayla told him. Jed nodded in agreement.
"Alright, well then I'll be off. See ya, tater tot." Hank blew a kiss to Sophie.
"Bye, french fry!!" Sophie called. She turned to Jed. "Can you put me up high?!" Jed laughed and put Sophie up on his shoulders, grabbed Kayla's hand, and started towards the food.
"Go, daddy!" Sophie cheered as her dad whipped around the race track, dirt flying everywhere. Kayla smiled, trying to hold the child from falling off of her seat in the stands.
"He's definitly got a fan base." Jed joked as Sophie leaned further forward to see her dad. Kayla laughed and nodded.
"One of these days she gonna topple over on top of someone." Kayla said as she sat Sophie on her lap.
"Maybe we should watch from the side next time instead of the stands." Jed nodded in agreement. Kayla shook her head as she watch the cars whip and whirl around the track.
"I still can't believe Hank chooses to do this. It's so dangerous."
"They haven't had a wreck yet this season." Jed pointed out. "And they only have one race left."
"Yeah and that one race means everything, and they get dirty." Kayla pointed out.
"How do you know all this again."
"Tim gave me an old DVD of races while you were working one day. There's been some nasty wrecks in the last few seasons." Kayla explained. Jed nodded. He knew what she would think about him racing, but was that as important to him as her staying here was?
