A few months later, many days of hell, many days of feeling useless because I can't save one of my only friends.
I groan, sitting up in the field of grass. The sky above still night and the fog looming over the grass like icing on a cake. "I'm here again? What the hell!" I get up, looking around to see if anything is new. I'm turning, nothing, I'm turniiiing, nothing. I sigh in frustration and fall onto the ground, dandelions floating out and into the slight wind. Who knows where they will go now. I reach up and rub my eyes from underneath my glasses, moaning as I rub my eyes a bit too hard.
I open my eyes and gasp, a large rock now looming over me. I scramble to get up, crawling backwards as I look up at the stone. I stop, a fog is swirling around the rock, and as it thins out in places I see that it has something engraved onto it. Standing I slowly walk up to the large stone. I try to wave some of the fog away, but it's determined to keep the secret of the stone away from me. Typical. I huff and put my hand on the stone, trying to think about what the hell Im supposed to be doing.
Suddenly the rock becomes fire hot under my hand and I pull my hand away. The fog dissipates and I'm able to see the stone clearly. The engraving lights up and I see that it's a fox that's carved into the stone. I look confused as I notice something peculiar about it. It has nine tails, but only two tails of the carving are lit up. I feel myself gravitate towards the stone once more, my body moving on its own accord. My arm reaches out and I touch the fox, running my hand over the curves and markings.
The closed eyes of the fox then open; a fire alit inside of them. I jump backwards, finally in control of my body again. The fog swirls around the stone, the fiery eyes jumping off the fox and into the fog. The fog swirls and suddenly alights itself in flames the shape fox. It sits there in the grass, looking at me. I stare down at it as it stares up at me. It slowly walks up to me, I squat down and watch as it walks up and rubs its body against my legs and arms.
I reach down and I'm, surprisingly, able pet it. It walks around as I pet it, back and forth along my legs. Suddenly a sound starts to the pierce the air, a song. Rap God, my alarm. The fox looks off in the distance, alerted. It sudden looks up at me before running a few feet away. It turns back around to me and then starts sprinting back at me full speed. I trip over my feet as I try to back away, It jumps and lands on my chest. I go to catch it, to make sure it's not hurt, but it absorbs itself into my body. I feel my whole body start to burn and I scream.
I sit up, sweat dripping off of me as I grip my covers in terror and confusion. I turn to my phone, shakily turning off my alarm, not noticing that my phone is already turned on, as if someone had been inside of it. I get going to the bathroom, needing to cool myself down. I close the door and walk to the mirror and sink, splashing my face with cold water. "What. The fuck. Was that." I say to myself as I use a towel to dry my face. I quickly do my usual routine: do bath routines, get dress, go to make breakfast. Though, my breakfast only consisted of two bowls of cereal.
I grab my bag off the floor and head to the front door, not expecting a large hand to land on my shoulder and I get tossed to the ground. "So, you have 'friends', do you? Or rather, some other fags and you're all having a grand 'ol threesome because you know nobody else could love someone like you." A familiar heat rises in my chest and I let out a menacing growl that I never knew I could make, "No. Someone can love me, but no one can love you. Mom doesn't even love you! She brings home men every damn time you're away on a business trip and says that they satisfy her in ways you could never!"
He snarls and gives a good, firm kick to my stomach. The heat grows and the pain that I would normally feel when getting beat isn't there. I just feel heat, but this heat isn't like the dream. It's more like a powerful kind of heat, one that makes you feel like you can do just about anything. "You liar! First you disgrace our family with your filthy, unorthodox sexuality! Now you're telling lies to get this family separated for your sick kicks?! I didn't think you could get any lower and yet here you are!"
