I walk down the drive way as a black Jeep pulls in with a horse trail following it. This man's got some money. I think, that bloody horse trailer looks like it's from the queen. The man gets out of the passengers side as an other man, looks like a stable hand or trainer gets out and walks to the back of the trailer. The man comes over to me and shakes my hand. "You get one week to work with him." Aargh.
"Ok." I nod my head. I watch as a very, very frightened and shocked horse come out of the big trailer. It spins in circles trying to get away from the trainer. He kicked a couple of time and then rears into the air. He comes back down and almost nocks the trainers arms down. I quickly run over to him and grab the lead rope. "Shhhh..." I say. "Calm down." He clams down but is still antsy. "This is him sedated." His trainer says.
"What, so your say he worse
then this?" I ask
"Yes, the only reason we wanted him sedated because he would kill himself in that trailer and he would of killed one of us." The man comes over and the trainer steps back in silence. "I'll get his trainer to set him up in your stables."
"Ok, thank you." I say.
After he's been set up I walk downed to him. He's calm-ish but still rounded up. I walk into the stables and grade a lead rope. I then open Hero's, that's his barn name, door and carefully clip the lead rope to his halter. He steps around a bit but is fine once I start walking him. I talk him out to the send arena and I clip his lead rope. He blots to the other side and kicks in the air. I walk into the arena and start to pull him in circles, in a trot. He look like such a good horse and would be such a great jumper but I can barely get near him without the kill look in his eyes. I make him change direction and ouch him into a canter. I click my tough to get him at a pace that I like and keep it for a couple more laps, until I stop and turn away. I hear him stop and breath out heavily. The touch of a warm nose on my shoulder, spokes me a little until I come to realisation I've done my job right. I turn into him and clip his lead rope into his halter. I then walk him around and jump on him bareback. He steps to the side and stresses but I manage to calm him down. "Good boy Hero." I tell him. We go into a walk then it a canter. He is suck a good and strong horse, a perfect fit for jumping. I then dismount and take him into the stables. I tack him up and then take him back out to the sand arena. I slowly and carefully mount him. He stands still waiting for my command. I push him forward and he goes into a walk. Then when I'm comfortable I push him into a canter, we do a couple of laps until I can it a day. Hero doesn't like the sound of that so he bucks, I get the first go under control but didn't see the second and third one coming.
