Gotham’s most human hero. He inspired hundreds, to serve and protect the city as police officers; he showed us that we can do something without always depending on Batman. Thanks to him people can finally trust the police without fear. My namesake, James Gordon, the man that I always admired.
-We’ve got some info about a drug auction between the biggest gangs in Gotham. It will take place in an abandoned furniture factory in Narrows. The highlight of the show is going be some new drug. Our lab wants you to secure the new drug, so try not to destroy it. It’s a great opportunity to hit them where it hurts. So don’t waste it.
That’s how the commissioner informed us about our upcoming mission. I was in charge of the squad assaulting the rear entrance. Well, I wasn’t very happy about it… In this kind of situations I preferred standing safely behind the police car. Don’t judge me, I’m not a coward; I’m just a detective, I just wasn’t trained to do assaults. I can negotiate, search for evidence and investigate. Leading assaults isn’t a part of my small list of actions. Anyway, it could be much worse, I could for example get assigned to the frontal attack. The auction should begin somewhere around 8 pm the next day.
We were already there at 6 pm. Those closest to the factory, counting me, were in civilian clothing with a bulletproof vest underneath. The armored truck with 24 heavily armed officers was parked two streets away, in a garage. The waiting begins. At times like this, I always get pessimistic thoughts. What if this whole auction is just a trap. If they waiting for us with guns pointed at the doors, ready to kill us all. It probably wouldn’t bug me so much if I wasn’t a part of mission that was a trap. Two good men ended up dead and a lot more were injured. That time Batman showed, if it wasn’t for him we would all be laying six feet underground by now. We can’t depend on Batman all the times. I wasted two hours thinking like this.
