I'm getting married to a man named Ren Fontanilla. That's all she knew. She didn't know God knows where or what he does. He could be a criminal mastermind for all she knew. The man didn't even have Facebook!
After that morning, he didn't get in touch with her at all. All he said was he'll call her. He didn't even give her his number! Could it be just a stupid prank after all? But this expensive-looking old ring he gave her made it unlikely, right? He said it was from his mother.
She sighed for the nth time.
"Hey there!" A sudden loud voice cut through her thoughts.
She immediately hid the ring in her palm. She couldn't possibly show it off to anyone without having a good talk to her 'fiancè'. She turned to Faith's excited face. When she's like this, she could only guess something good must have happened to her two-year old son. That or it's about a hot guy from God knows where.
"Have you heard?"
"Heard what?"
"An executive of the Niji Group is here, he'll be passing by here!"
"So? It's not like it's the first we ever had a big shot over, right?"
"The girls won't make a big fuss over it if he's not hot, my girl," Faith as-a-matter-factly. "Sheila from the front desk just called, she said she almost fainted when the exec looked at her!"
She rolled her eyes, she knew it. "I'm sure she's just exaggerating, you know how she likes to exaggerate things."
Faith sneered at her, "Oh yeah? What if I tell you that even the old maid Jennifer got tongue-tied in front of him?" Jennifer is an infamous forty year-old lady. She is known to be quite cranky and doesn't smile to anyone under any circumstance.
But even that didn't impress her, "Really? Yay," she said without any enthusiasm.
Faith clucked her tongue at her. "Why you little- This is exactly why you're still single."
I'm engaged, you know. She wondered how her friend would react if she said that. And that her fiance's probably more good-looking than whoever's headed their way. She paused over that thought. Oh God, she's sounding like a proud girlfriend showing her boyfriend off!
A 'ding!' from the elevator caught everyone's attention. Excited female employees couldn't help but stand up and fuss over their boss's guest. Gab didn't bother though. But Faith was hell-bent on including her in her excitement and dragged her to the front.
"Vitamin A, good for a single woman's eyes!"
But Faith's voice became a distant sound to her eyes the minute she laid her eyes on him.
Ren was getting tired of the director's "tour". He was forced to wear his 'business' face for a whole hour now. He's not really that interested in this subsidiary of Niji Group. In fact, it is not known to many how this firm is affiliated with their huge conglomerate.
The fifty-five year-old director was a good head taller than most of his secretary but still shorter than Ren by a few inches. He was chatting away, trying his best to entertain a man younger than him by more than twenty years.
Like the previous floors they've been, the employees were making a racket over his visit. It was nothing than a courtesy visit though, one of the many his brothers forced on him.
As they were walking towards the director's office, he could barely make out a group of female employees from the corner of his eyes. He didn't know how but a woman who was about his fiancee's height and built caught his attention. He would have ignored it and go on his boring way when he heard a small cry of surprise from that same direction.
