Prologue

I was framed for murder.

My sweet voice carries through the air as I dangle my legs over the swing.

That's what they told me to say.

My parents were murdered, brutally.

But it wasn't me...

Never go down the lane,

Never go down the lane.

If you go down the lane,

Your life will never be the same.

The song carries a remorse which echoes softly across the wind. It reaps of sorrow, but there's something softer; darker hidden within it...

But no one chooses to hear it.

Never go down the lane,

Never go down the lane.

If you go down the lane,

Your life will never be the same.

My parents' lives will never be the same, not since that stormy night.

Not since...

Never go down the lane --

My voice abruptly breaks off. Blood, screams; pleas flash quickly through my mind but I carry on...

Never go down the lane,

Never go down the lane.

If you go down the lane...

Your life will never be the same.

Just then I jump off the swing, allowing my small legs to carry me as fast as they can across the wet grass.

No one suspects the little girl.

I run faster.

The girl who actually murdered her parents...

Never go down the lane

Never go down the lane.

If you go down the lane,

Your life will never be the same.

I did it.

But of course, 'it wasn't me.'

That's what they believe.

I smile...
