Prologue
Ariella Westbrook walked out of school and began to make her way towards her car, tugging on the bottom of her maroon sweatshirt while adjusting the t-shirt underneath. She bent her back and gathered up her blonde hair, pulling the strands together in an upward motion and sliding the rubber band off of her wrist only to wrap it around her hair. She pulled down on her hair and tightened it as she pulled out her keys.
"Hey, Ariella!" Her friend, Natasha yelled out to her which made her change the direction she was walking in as she traveled over to her friend's car.
"Hey guys." She smiled sweetly, her tiny dimple showing off.
"Are you doing anything on this lovely Friday night?" Her other friend, Madison asked.
"I planned on staying in and studying." She sheepishly said, pulling on her backpack as it began to loosely fall off of her shoulders.
"You do that every weekend." Madison groaned.
"I don't like parties. They don't determine my future whereas my GPA does." Ariella tried defending her reasoning, leaning against Natasha's vehicle.
"Please come." Natasha smiled so wide that her eyes were only an inch away from being closed.
"You're lucky I like you guys." She sighed as she caved into the peer pressure. However, she did not minding it as much since they were her best friends.
"We love you!" Madison gushed while a group of boys ruined the moment by honking at them.
"Do you need a ride, babe?" The school's heartthrob, Emmet, asked Ariella as he pulled up next to her. The rest of the boy's friends whistling and making sex noises as they watched the two engage.
"Nope. Didn't need one yesterday either. Maybe its a sign." She snidely replied while Natasha and Madison smugly smiled, nodding their heads in agreement.
"We'll see about that. I'll be waiting for you tonight." He winked at her before driving out of the school's parking lot, his friends cheering him on echoed throughout the parking lot as they left.
"If he wasn't such an asshole I'd try getting with him, because despite his attitude, he's hot as hell." Madison said, the two other girls shaking their heads in disapproval.
"We'll pick you up?" Natasha asked with a hopeful glint in her deep brown eyes.
"Nine." Ariella nodded.
"See you later, little mermaid!" Madison yelled out as they left.
Ariella continued to walk to her vehicle, which seemed to be forever away. She looked down at the pavement to see a big rock and began to kick it around like she had done when she was younger. She sustainably kept going along with it until it went into the woods. She looked up and heard a noise, seeing that a few branches were moving back and forth rapidly in a shaking motion. As the curious person she was, she wondered is she should go into the woods to see if it was a bunny or if it was just her mind playing tricks on her.
She wandered into the woods, snapping on a few branches herself which made her jump in fear, calming down once she realized that it was just herself. She looked around to see nothing but trees, dirt, and leaves.
"Nothing here I guess. Maybe I'm just imagining things." She shrugged as she walked back out of the woods and went to her truck, driving away.
"Kiss FM!" The radio went off as Ariella waited for the next song to play.
"No, I don't want no scrub. A scrub is a guy that can't get no love from me. Hanging out the passenger side of his bestfriends ride, trying to holler at me." Ariella sang, getting really into the song like she usually did with music.
