It was almost silent, except for the always present nonsence mutterings and groaning from the rest of my ward. Honestly the guards seemed to appreciate my silence since I was the only one who wasn't constantly making noise here. I couldn't even if I wanted to with this stupid muzzle over my mouth, and I can't even remember the last time I used my hands, they seemingly are forever crossed around my torso in this stupid jacket. But hopefully that will all change tonight.
I had overheard a conversation between some of the guards that had been patrolling my warden. There had been a big "raise in profit". Which always ended up in them drinking that strange liquid which I heard them refer to as "beer". The liquid made them less responsible and very forgetful. Which in my case was perfect. I had been planning this out all day, not like I had anything better to do, and this might be the only chance I get in a really long time. I can't blow it.
Everything was going according to plan I had unlocked my door after my dinner time, which was quite easy after mastering unlocking things with my teeth. After their drinking the evening guards, as I predicted, were getting ready to go home before the nighttime guards got there, giving me plenty of time to escape. As they were closing down a female guard started towards my door. I held my breath. Just as she was about to see if it was secure the other male guard explained, "hey, I already locked that one up he/she isn't getting out anytime soon!". I wanted to kick him as hard as I could but I had to keep composure or else they would become suspicious and want to check on me. Suddenly a third voice came from in front of them, "come on last one to the car buys dinner!" They all dashed out of the room quickly. Leaving the warden door unlocked.
They were so foolish I grinned under my mask. After I was sure everyone was gone I swiftly got up and to my cell door. Silently pushing it open then closed with my foot. I darted down the hall making sure every step was completely silent just in case any guards were still staying around. I wasn't expecting it to be this hard to run with a straight jacket but no matter what I had to get out. After what seemed like hours I finally found the exit. Upon my exit my lungs were immediately stung with the ice cold...wind? Is this what wind felt like? Anyway it was painful for a bit until my body adjusted like I had done so many times. As soon as I gathered my thoughts again I continued running on some grey looking ground that felt gritty on my bare feet. Pavement? I had heard someone talking about this thing before. As I kept running I started walking on a mushy, wet, brown surface that had little green lines. Dirt?...Grass? All of this had been explained to me vividly when I asked one of the nicer guards what the outside was like. Though I never thought I would actually ever see or feel it. It was amazing.
After the adrenaline rush of the outside world ran off I stumbled upon two people and some glowing red thing that looked dangerous. The people saw me and had, what looked to be, sympathy something that I had encountered many times before it aggravated me so I stepped forward their sympathy turned into shock and then fear, all emotions I had dealt with before. I looked them up and down eyeing their clothes the boy had a big black "hoodie"(I think that's what its called) and blue "jeans". While the girl had a shirt that had what I believe were letters on it that most likely spelled something out but I couldn't understand it and very dark maybe "navy" blue "sweat pants". They looked so comfortable. I wanted them. I NEEDED them. That's when i blacked out.
When I awoke I had somehow tied the boy's hoodie around my waist, I was also wearing the girl's sweat pants, my muzzle was ripped off, and my old shorts covered in blood, my new clothes only had small stains. I looked around and realized what I had done. Instinctively I kicked the lifeless bodies and my muzzle into the glowing red light. I didn't want to stick around for long. I ran deeper into the "forest" and didn't look back...
