Chapter Five

*Before the party*

Adanna scratched her head repeatedly as she sat on the bed thinking of way to go through with her plan. Flipping the blankets over her head, she groaned heavily. Feeling depressed she got down from the bed and proceeded to the bathroom, hurriedly undressing on her way to the shower while in the shower she heard the voice of Jezreel calling her name but left when she didn't reply

In the middle of sponging her body, a thought suddenly popped up in her memory, she could just sneak out.

She quickly took her bath in a hurry, dressed up in the clothes she was given by Monica and her friends which made her look like a disco dancer and bounced downstairs

Making her way to the kitchen she began packing her lunch bag when Mrs Adams walked into the kitchen, she paused upon seeing Adanna who was not aware of her presence but went about her business

"Where are you going in that? " Mrs Adams asked running her eyes over Adanna who upon seeing Mrs Adams jumped in fright "Ma, I did not see you " she said in a hurry wanting to avoid interrogation

"I asked you a question" Mrs Adams shouted

"I....I... am going to school" Adanna replied her voice in a whisper not daring to look up at the person in front of her

"What kind of school do you go to that your cloth is stop near your buttocks and your shirt is so tight ?"

"..ehh...it .. is school am going to, but we have one party in school and this is the dress we were told to wear" the words stuttered out of her mouth unsure of herself, she hanged her food bag on her shoulder slowly taking backward steps out Mrs Adams way who it seems was ready to land a couple of slaps

"Go and remove that cloth now, you are dressed like a slut" she shouted at Adanna who quickly ran out of the room

"What nonsense" Mrs Adams shouted in irritation and began cooking breakfast for the family, meanwhile Adanna who went to her room put the clothes she removed into her bag and came back downstairs, she knew Jezreel and Joseph were already out of the house and had gone to their place of work where they work as an intern so it was only she and Mrs Adams in the house, no Jezreel to protect her, she might as well behave

She made sure she put on her longest uniform and made her way to the living room where Mrs Adams was sitting, she placed her steps gingerly one after the other and stood before her, Mrs Adams sized her up and down before opening her mouth to speak
"where is the cloth you went to remove?" she asked
Adanna hesitantly dug her hands into her bag and brought out the clothes from the bag and presented it to Mrs Adams who opened her mouth in disbelieve
"so if I did not ask you for it, you were going to take it to school and changed into it, Are you out of your mind?"
"I was going to return it" came the quick reply

"Return it" Mrs Adams questioned. "To who?"

"To my classmate Monica she gave it to me to wear, she said it was the dress code to the school party otherwise she wouldn't let me in"

Mrs Adams couldn't believe her ears, this girl was indeed dumb, it was about time she was taught some common sense even though Jezreel might not approve of her method of teaching.

"Are you so daft that you are not aware of the fact that , that cloth was too small for you" she shouted in anger

Adanna hung her head in shame

"Answer me"

"I told her it was too tight but she said she wouldn't let me in, and I want to go to the party "

Mrs Adams hid her disgust at the girl's behaviour and focused totally on teaching her a lesson of her life
