His eyes opened slowly to the white room again. He thought about his first day in here, how they kept him in that white room for 4 whole years, he remembered how insane staring at the same walls every day started to make him. He remembered how not being able to shower started to drive him insane, slowly but surely if he had stayed in there he would have lost his mind.
Cloud shivered at his thoughts and sat up in the bed, surveying his wrists, looking at the bandages. He looked to his right and saw the door left open. He swung his legs and hung them off the bed, looking down at the white floor before hopping off the bed and making his way out of the room. Cloud met a guard waiting for him at the door. "I'm to take you to the boss," was all he said before walking off, but Cloud got the message to follow.
They walked and walked for about an hour and a half before he lead Cloud to the big metal door he first saw the first time he was let out his white prison room. The guard opened the door and stepped to the side, giving Cloud room to go through the door and out to the arena. He stood there, eyes wide at what he saw. There, beside his father, was a 5"5 chocolate skinned head of curly brown hair.
"Hazel?" He croaked. His voice became too weak to scream with joy. She was back. His wife....she was back. She turned and he saw those big brown playful eyes, her eyebrows that were always arched so she always looked a little upset, he inhaled and took in a deep breath of her scent and felt every muscle relax.
"What kind of sick joke is this?" She asked, and when Cloud opened his eyes to ask her what she meant, he realized she was looking at Eugene and not him.
"I can't say I know what you mean," Eugene said, his voice giving off vibes of deception.
"I watched Cloud die, do you really think sending someone that looks like him would make this deal go in your favor?"
"I'm the real Cloud...and what deal are you talking about?" Hazel marched over to him and inhaled deeply, frowning at him making a small crack in his heart he could've sworn he heard more than felt.
"You smell nothing like him, your scent doesn't do to me what his scent did, and therefore you can't be him. In terms of the deal, you don't have to know anything."
"She's considering turning over her twins, Jayden and Janae, to my possession. For their safety of course." Eugene said with a sly smile on his face.
"What?" Cloud asked, his sorrow slowly turning to anger.
"She knows that sooner or later I would seek them out and if they proved too difficult to capture I would just kill them. She's taking a step in the right direction. After all, they are all she has left after her mate and alpha died." Cloud felt his anger subside into something worse, despair. What more could he lose? His brother, his best friends and now his woman and his children.
"Hazel, please don't do this." She turned to him and again the look of disgust broke his heart once more.
"I don't know who you are, don't talk to me like we're familiar," She turned to Eugene and he smiled.
"Fine, I'll stop the charades. I tried to sway you just a bit but it didn't seem to work." Cloud fell to his knees and stared at Eugene with an empty look in his eyes. Eugene walked over slowly, obviously noticing his victory, picked Cloud up by the arm and dragged him up to whisper in his ear, "And I'm not done taking from you yet. I will break your resolve, shatter all your hopes before I turn you into a loyal soldier."
