2 weeks later
"All I'm saying is that he should at least consider going to the party before shooting us down."Carmen said frustratingly. She walked up the steps to the double doors of the school building. Dana,Fiona and I following right beside her. "Baine!" She shouted loudly, making me jump. Dana and Fiona looked at her as if she'd lost her mind as she blushed wildly and glared at the ground. "Next Alpha or not,he needs to go! I even got Carol to go!" She hollered, looking at me as I pushed past a group of students and to the blue double doors.
I held the door open for my group of friends, giggling when I heard Dana mimicking Carmen in a high pitched voice. She winked at me and continued on, earning a punch from the girl. "Yeah-when will you guys be here by the way?-Bitch! I know your on your way but like when will you be here?" She asked as we walked down the hall.
I joined Dana's left side, looping our arms as we walked. She grinned at me, bobbing her head to the music she was listening to. Fiona stood on my left and looped our arms as well, doing the same to Carmen's open one. I smiled at my friends. It had been two weeks since my mother, grandmother and I had moved to Eiling and I had to say I was enjoying it more than I expected to.
Carmen,Fiona, Dana and I were all pretty close to my surprise. I'd had friends back home in New York, but they weren't the type of friends I'd have liked to keep forever. Just people to hang out with at school so I didn't look like a weirdo. But with the girls it was completely different.
We had been to the movies, the mall, and I'd been to their houses. Not mine because we were still unpacking. The girls and I talked about things and laughed and joked and they defended me when the mean girls at school decided to make me their targets. I did my best to defend them as well, as sort of a way to show my gratitude. But it never worked out, I ususally panicked and turned into a blushing, embarrassed mess who needed to be saved. I was pegged as the quiet, shy one out of our group to say the very least. Stealing the title from Fiona.
I looked around the loud, bustling hallway. Taking in the light blue banner and other decorations that had 'Welcome Home' written in neat letters. A faint smile graced my lips as groups of girls huddled by the front entrance, eyes hopeful and waiting. The male population of Eiling Highschool was finally returning to school.
Dana had explained to me on Saturday when we'd gone over to her house ,that the boys would be coming home. I didn't think much of it until Fiona and Carmen broke out in a fit of tears, joined also by Dana's mother who had been sitting in the kitchen with her friends. Apparently it was big deal for the small town for the eldest male to go on a trip with their father. Leaving their mothers, wives, girlfriends, daughters and sisters all alone to await their arrival home. Sunday was the day, but Fiona had said Baine, Gace, and Marshall wouldn't be back until Monday, today.
"Third period? Aw, Babe I really wanted you to meet the new part of the gang." Carmen whined loudly. I frowned at her and she smiled as her boyfriend replied. "Shut up asshole." The bell suddenly rang, making her pout." Got a dash bae, love you and try and convince sour puss to go please." Carmen grinned and hung up her phone, sighing loudly.
"They'll be here soon." I said ,giving Fiona and Carmen a small smile. My heart ached for them as their faces showed completely and utter saddness and pain. As if the absence of their boyfriends was really that hard to bare.
They returned my smile and nodded. Still they looked like a pair of sad, lost puppies.
"We know, we just miss them is all. You have no idea what it's like, honestly." Fiona said, a frown appearing on her pale face. I mimicked it, slightly confused as her eyes seemed to change from icy blue to light brown. She looked away as Carmen freed her arm to rub her back. I looked at them sadly and looked at Dana.
