Welcome back children! Did you have a nice day? I hope so, because i did!
Okay serious face on, Today i will explain two major things that NEED to be in your Werewolf story.
so your probably like, um no thanks i want to be original....
BUTTTT before you yell let me speak. So your story needs to have...
*drum roll*
DOUNUTS!! lol, just kidding, you actually need to have flaws and diversity.
So first off i am going to explain why you need Flaws. currently, i am willing to bet money that your thinking why would i want my story to have flaws, arn't those bad. Actually, no. Character Flaws are what i am trying to say. Flaws in a character give them a more realistic feeling, some can even help the reader relate to a character.
The way i see these flaws~
1) physical.
or..
2) emotional.
now lets define them.
physical flaw- A character who isn't perfect in looks. Scars, maybe your weight, pimples, moles, freckles, crooked teeth and dark spots are just a few phyical flaws. WE ALL HAVE FLAWS, so why shouldn't the character. These days everybody works so hard to create the perfect character when all they had to do was make a flawed one. Your flaws are what make you special, unique, beautiful and most importantly...perfect.
wow that was like really emotional, i think i may of cried a bit.
Emotional Flaws- a character isn't exactly perfectly sane. I will admit, not even i am sane. No i won't ever be and neither will you because you just can't. Emotional flaws consist of slight insanity(which is normal), mood swings, maybe you don't let people see your feeling, maybe you show your feelings to much, in some cases you feel like you are below or above everyone else. Create a character who is insecure or reckless at times. Every. Single. Flaw. A. Character. Has. Makes. Them. Perfect.
Damn, i am like soooOOOooOoO00oo feeling it right now *tears up*
Moving on class. Our next lesson is on Diversity.
i know, i know. I saw it on your face, you finched. Apparently nobody likes to add diversity in their storys. *GASP* i said the word!!
DIVERSITY! DIVERSITY! DIVERSITY!
In almost every damned story i read on here contains of all white characters. This sickens me.
~NEWS FLASH~
Not Everybody Is White.
I have read too many werewolf books were the main character is white, so is his/her mate and every single other character in the story. I fucking hate it when this happens. GIVE me a African American, Asian, anything really!
Let me tell you a story, i was once talking with a friend through kik. We have never met but me and her talked every day. We would give each other tips and helpful ideas when we got stuck until this happened...
~our conversation went like this~
Her: Hey, i need some help creating a new character to befriend my main character.
me: okay, who is the main character?
her: describes the character and gives detailed story line for the new character*
me: Sounds like the newbie should be male, maybe a short one?
her: yae, good idea.
*skips a bit*
her: okay so i created him, does he sound good. He is 24, male, white, flippy brown hair and mathcing eyes.
me: umm actually no...
her: why??
this is where i was getting annoyed, so in the past she describes all her characters and all of them are white.
me: Actually he shouldnt be white, it seems like everyone in your story is white, where is the diversity??
her: I CANT write about another race, i dont know about them. like how would i describe their looks or atttitude if i dont know how the average *insert diffrent race* acts.
I face palmed at this point. I have been friends with her for about a year and i just know realized how stupid she was....
so for anybody who is like my friend here and cant write about a diffrent race simply because they arn't that race, Fuck OFF. LOL jk just take extra time reading the next few words pleasssseeee.
Two things will help you if you EVER find yourself in this situation of stupidity,
1) THE INTERNET
2) the old fashioned, TALK TO PEOPLE AND ASK!!!!
GEEZ, i feel like my hair is gray after all this, like seriously diversity is nessasary.
Also Diversity adds a more realistic feeling to your story, though i am not saying every character should be a diffrent race, just add a few here or there.
