I sat in between Slash and Jessica in the back of the rental car. The ride was silent till we got to the hospital. When we got out, we quickly ran up to the emergency room. We sat and waited for what seemed like forever.
Finally a doctor came out and told us we could go see Stephani. When we reached her room, she was staring at the wall. Tears started to form in her eyes, "I know what you guys are thinking." She then closed her eyes and slowly shook her head, "I don't want to die."
"We know that sweetie." Jessica said as she sat on the bed. She took Stephani's hand and held it.
I looked at her arm, which was wrapped up.
She saw me looking at her arm, "They stitched it up. It didn't even hurt. They think I should be on suicide watch. They think I'm depressed, and wanting to end my life. Which isn't true. None of it is true. This was an accident. I don't ever even go this deep."
"Why do you do it?" Axl asked.
"It's an addiction. When I first did it, I hated myself. I hated my self image. I was just so angry with myself. Then I just did it whenever I felt sad, or angry, or stressed out. It's a real problem, and I just can't seem to stop." She went quiet for a second, "Can I be alone with Alexis? Just for a few minutes."
They nodded their heads and left the room. I went over to the bed and sat beside her.
"I know why I did it this time.. After hearing that your brother was flirting with that waitress, it broke my heart. I honestly thought he liked me, but I was wrong. How could a guy like your brother, like a girl like me? I'm no one special, I'm just little ol' Stephani."
"You're much more than that! How many people get to say that their brother is Duff McKagan? Or that they're friends with GN'R?"
"That's probably the only good thing about me." She sighed, "I think after this tour, I should go see a therapist. That's what my doctor told me to do. Hopefully a therapist could help me stop."
"Stephani, you're strong. Of course you will be able to stop. You're perfect, and people adore you. We all love you, and we all believe in you. We know you can get through this."
