Title: No One Else Comes Close

Summary: In four days Nikki Gil would be flying to Dublin, Ireland for a show. But there was a lot to do between now and then.

Nikki closed the wooden door locking it behind her as she walked in to the house that she shared with her mother, father and younger sister. Walking past the office, powder room and then the dining room she was finally glad when she reached the room she had desired. She slowly entered the living room slumping on to the leather sofa, closing her eyes and breathing a huge sigh of relief. She was glad to be home, she was exhausted from taping and all she wanted to do was relax. Nikki loved her house. Although they had only been there for a little over a year, it was home. She loved the area, the fresh air, the peacefulness and the tranquillity. It was great to live in the south away from all the hustle and bustle of the Metro Manila center.

The young girl had dozed off for a good ten minutes before she was finally woken by a familiar voice “Nikki, are you alright? Did you have a hard day?” Nikki let out a muffled “mmhmmm” before opening her eyes to see the familiar person that usually welcomed her home, her mother. Mrs Gil was small compared to Mr Gil, with shoulder length brown hair and a calming smile.

“Have something to eat and then you can go off to sleep.”

“Yes, Ma” Nikki replied as she stood up from the sofa and walked in to the kitchen.

Nikki had just finished eating the last bit of her dinner when her sister Dani entered the room taking her place at the kitchen table. Nikki looked up as her sister placed her handbag on to one of the vacant seats.

“Nice outfit” Nikki said shaking her head. She had spotted her black skirt, grey top and cardigan realizing again that her little sister had borrowed some items from her wardrobe.

Dani smiled before replying “Yes everybody was complimenting me at work today”.

“Imagine that” Nikki said with a smile. She didn’t mind though, they always borrowed each other’s clothes, one of the perks of having a sister.

Thursday.

The next morning Nikki woke up to see the sunlight gleaming through the curtain. Oh my God its eleven o’clock, I’m late thought Nikki. She quickly ran to the bathroom washed her face then brushed her teeth. Pulling on the blue dress she had picked out the night before she hurriedly ran down the stairs.

“Mom! I have a guesting today, why didn’t you wake me?”

“Nikki, calm down its only eleven. Your guesting is not until five” her mother said to her calmly. Nikki sheepishly smiled and sat down. She was glad her mom knew her schedule. Nikki’s mom was her manager, stylist, accountant, chef, basically her everything and she was really thankful to have her.

So with a few hours to spare before her guesting, Nikki decided to bask in her free time. What could she do? She pulled out her Iphone and clicked the twitter application. Six hundred and eighty-three mentions. Nikki was always surprised when she logged on to twitter because she always had so many notifications. She scrolled through her mentions and smiled as she read “Ate Nikki, you are so pretty”, “Nikki you are my idol”, “Hi Ate you are my favorite singer”, she also skimmed through a few negative tweets and decided not to let them affect her. She had fallen victim to online bashers in the past and had finally decided to ignore them as she had learned that in her line of work it was impossible to please everyone.
