Clark texted me through Instagram.
He wanted to make sure I arrived safely and was feeling okay.
I wrote him 'yes' and thanked him.
He apologised for not realising sooner that I was drunk and that he shouldn't have bought me a drink.
I told him that it wasn't his fault at all and that I drank the drink because I wanted to. I also wanted to use the ticket or it would have gone to waste, but I didn't tell him that.
He asked if I wanted to meet.
I answered that I was in my hometown and wouldn't go to the city.
I thought that would be everything.
I was wrong.
So wrong.
I don't know if we talked in between. If we did I don't remember.
Wednesday came and my best friend, Daniela, and I went to the city in the evening. The next day we would go to see a flat. We had started to look for a flat to share during the university year.
We would meet with the owner the next morning and since it was summer neither of us wanted to wake up early to catch a train to come to the city. A friend had offered her empty flat for the night so we arrived the day before.
We bought dinner, a delicious Wok To Walk. I ordered rice with Thai yellow curry sauce and veggies.
We looked for a place to sit down and eat but little did we know that in the centre a bench is not an easy thing to find. We ended up in a square. It was a bit dark but it had a park with individual benches. We joked about the one person benches that were all separated. It was like they didn't want people to talk to each other.
The benches were we decided to sit didn't face each other, but we sat looking to the side so we could talk normally.
The food was good, the temperature warm, the night quiet in that square, I was with my best friend. I was happy at that moment.
Then I received a text.
From Clark.
I think he asked about what I was doing because I told him that in that moment I was in the city eating with my friend and, since he had told me he was leaving the next day, I told him good bye and that I hoped he enjoyed the rest of his trip around some European countries.
He wrote that he was in the centre too, with a friend. He said he could come to where I was.
I... told him.
And he came.
I explained what I had just done to my best friend and she didn't mind. She said that for my sake, I don't think she wanted to do anything tonight.
Clark appeared with his friend before we had finished our food.
He saw me before I was sure it was him.
His friend was as tall as he was. For sure he was Australian too.
They approached and I stood up.
I was nervous.
I didn't know how to act, what to say.
We said hi and presented our friends. Then he proposed to go have a drink the four of us.
They asked if we knew some bar that was nice.
My friend and I had no idea.
"We never come here at night." We explained. "We go to other places to drink or party."
