BRRRRRRNNNNGGG... The school bell rang out and I gathered my things and left. I met my friend Corby and Serena, my girlfriend. We all got into my car. Just as I was about to pull out, I heard Serena and stopped

"Crap," Serena said. "I completely forgot, I have drama practice today. Let me out". I stopped the car and let Serena out. She stepped out of the car and closed the door. She leaned in through the window and said "I'm sorry about this guys. But you two go ahead. I'll come next time"

I sighed and said " Okay. Have fun. I'll call you later". We finished saying our goodbyes and Corby moved to the front seat and we pulled out of the lot, heading to the public library. We frequently all grouped together at the public library because of all the space there was, and of how empty it was. We were never bothered all that much. It was our own little slice of solitude.

"Hey, I need to drop something off at home. You mind stopping on the way there?" Corby said to me, interrupting my thoughts. That was just like him, always needing to do one thing or another. Forgetting certain errands. It got exhausting being his friend sometimes. But he's the greatest friend anyone could ever ask for and I'm glad I know him.

"Sure Bar. Make it fast though" I said as I made a turn that would take us to his house. "Hurry up, they close in four hours". He quickly sped off to his house, walking quickly but not exactly running. He was in there for quite a long time, leaving me to wonder what he was doing. Several times I thought I saw a wolf out of the corner of my eye, standing at the edge of the forest, watching me. But every time I turned to look at it, it was gone.

Just as I was starting to feel like I was going crazy from the waiting, I saw Corby surface from his front door. He quickly sped towards the car and got in.

"Took you long enough," I said as he fastened his seatbelt. I looked at my watch. "Thirty-seven minutes. That's how long you were in there" I said, showing him the time on my watch.

"Oh leave me alone Conor. Just drive the bloody car," he said in a snarky voice. I smiled and restarted the car and pulled away back onto the road. I drove for about ten minutes before I got to the part I was dreading the most. The bridge. That bridge... Corby put his hand on my shoulder to comfort me. He and Serena were the only ones who knew the story of this bridge, the story of how my father died... I drove over the bride and kept going, shaking off the chill that went down my spine from driving over the bridge that killed my father.

Eventually, we arrived at the library, somewhere around five minutes later. We walked in and went directly to our usual spot we sit at. I went through the shelves until I saw something that interested me. I had probably gone through two whole shelves until I saw something that jumped out at me. Intricacies of Lycanthropy. It seemed interesting so I brought it to the table. When Corby saw the title, he laughed

"Do you really buy into that rubbish?" He said with a mocking tone. I chuckled and sat down across from him.

"Why not? There's probably a lot of stuff out there we don't know about. If people are good enough at hiding things, there's no limit to what can be around. Werewolves, Vampires, and who knows, maybe demons. There's no way of knowing what's in the world. And if you know about what's out there, even if it isn't there, then you're prepared for what might happen. But to answer your question, no. I don't. I just think it's interesting." I said to him.

"Well alright then. Didn't have to write a syllabus, Conor." he chuckled as he said that, and continued to read his novel about the travels of Space Pirate Cazaar. I never understood why he enjoyed that series, most of it is filler anyway. I tried to read volume one but I couldn't even get halfway before I was in pain. It was so boring, I didn't understand how anyone could enjoy it. But it's sold over eight hundred million copies, and that's just Volume I. There are fifty-three volumes of the Space Pirate Cazaar series. I looked over and noticed he is reading Space Pirate Cazaar Volume XXVII: Vengeance of a King.
