Cold. I opened my eyes and it was dark all around me. I felt the abyss on my skin as the cold sank into my flesh. The only light was muffled and faint, coming from above. Something about this place felt similar. I looked to the light then I realized where I was. I was underwater, I felt the rush of the current. But it didn't affect me. Nor did the lack of air in my lungs. My presence there felt almost... Phantomly. As I looked at the light, now realizing it to be faint moonlight, something crashed through the water surface. When I looked closer, I realized what it was. No. Please no. I thought as I saw my father's car come crashing through the flowing river water. I had had this dream before. Several times. Over and over and over again. Seeing my father crash through the water again and again. But this time something changed. Normally I'd wake up here but it was different. I looked at the wreckage of my dad's car and saw something rattle, then separate from the car. I watched as a brown and grey wolf pushed off the windshield of the car and started swimming towards the surface. Out of some instinct I went after it. Eventually, It stopped and turned towards me. Fear went through my body and I stared into its eyes. I recognized those eyes. I knew those eyes. A greyed pale blue. They were my father's eyes. I moved towards it and it towards me. Then I stopped moving and it stopped. I looked to my left, it looked to its right. Then I wondered something. I waved my hand at it and in unison, it waved its paw back. Then, as if shaking off a trance, it turned and sped off, swimming faster than I'd ever seen before. Towards the shore. I chased as best I could but when I got above water, it was gone. But when I looked at the mud, I saw pawprints slowly transitioning into human footprints. Then I looked back and saw that the footprints... were my own.
