I'm now sitting in dumbledores office. Waiting to be sorted. What if I'm not a Slytherin? What will Malfoy do? What would Malfoy do if I was Slytherin? What would dad do if I wasn't in Slytherin? What's going to happen?
"Hello Ms. Malfoy," Dumblebore walks in.
"Hello, Professor Dumblebore." I smile.
"How was the train ride?" He asks.
"Good," I nod.
"I'm glad. Well, let's continue with the reason you are here shall we?"
I nod again
He gingerly picks up an old tattered hat and places it upon my head.
"I told him he better skip the song," he winks.
"Okay?" I shrug.
"Hmmm hmmmm hmmm," the hat replies.
I sit there, anxiety and anticipation swirling in my head. It seems like an eternity that I have been sitting here. Though it's only been about 4 minutes. A few more seconds and I'll be qualified as a hat stall. 5-4-3-2-1. I'm a hat stall. After about 11 more seconds the hat stops "hmm interesting etc etc"ing and finally shouts something
"I think you'd be best served in HUFFLEPUFF," the hat shouts at the top of its... his... whatever it is's lungs.
I sit there stunned for a moment then I sigh. I am relieved to not be in Slytherin. I'm actually relieved. Hufflepuff. I don't know too much about their history but that will change soon enough. I'm going to the library as soon as I can.
"Well, it seems we have a new Hufflepuff," Dumblebore smiles knowingly.
"Seems so," I nod.
"We should probably get you to your peers and continue with the first year sorting yes?"
"Of course," I nod.
I turn and walk back down the steps. I see Nolan and point the the hufflepuff side of the room. He gives me a thumbs up. I smiled. My only friend here, was in a house of the polar opposite. I turn to glance back across the room at the slytherin table. Draco catches my eye. He is smirking, a large obvious smirk plastered right that blood purist bully. Sure being my dad's son and working for ex death eaters is hard on us both. But Draco hasn't had that.... Character ark if you will, he hasn't realized how horrible his ways are. Which makes him just as horrible for the moment being. I glare what I hope it my strongest most confident stare right back at him. His smirk falters. I beam. Turning around to my fellow students, I hesitate, what if they judge me? What if they hate me? I lower my gaze.
"Aren't you that Malfoy everyones been talking about?" One girl narrows her green eyes.
"Yeah. Millie," I nod.
"Cass." She says hesitantly, "so why are you here exactly? You can't possibly be a Hufflepuff."
"I am actually." I say, her smile turns into a frown, "and maybe you shouldn't judge people by their families."
"Hey, you are who you are right?" She shrugs taking a drink of her butter beer.
"Yeah, who you are. Gosh Cass, you are so judgemental. I mean I'd rather be friends with a hufflepuff who is kind and caring from a heavily jerkish slytherin family, then friends with a annoying judgmental jerk who is a hufflepuff from a sweet kind family." The girl sitting two spaces down from me chimes in.
She has dark skin and beautiful black hair, along with warm brown eyes.
The girl, Cass, just rolls her green eyes and flips her brown hair behind her.
"Whatever Olivia, no one cares what you think," she sighs, stands, and walks over to the other side of the table, two other girls following her.
"I care what you think." I say after a moment.
The girl, Olivia? Smiles and scoots down.
"Olivia Jackson," she holds out her hand.
"Millicent, Millie, Malfoy," I shake it.
"So your basically a first year?" She asks.
"Sort of. They thought I was a squib but I hexed my brother, with out a wand, so they new something was up. I know as much as I would if I attended on time," I nod.
"Cool. So you hexed your brother? Spill," she smiles.
"OH well he was just being a jerk, you know typical Draco, and I just got fed up I guess so, I stupefied him," I shrug.
"Dang girl," Olivia laughs.
I shrug again.
"Oh come on, your being modest. You know it felt awesome, it did feel awesome didn't it? I mean he is bad at school I can't imagine being his sister," she replies.
"It sucks. And yeah, it did feel awesome," I laugh.
She laughs, "Oh hey, just ignore Cass, we all do, she is just a-"
She gets cut off by Dumbledore announcing the sorting will commence.
