"Cut it out, Renjun. I'm not dating a child."
"You basically are."
Doyoung and Renjun were arguing per usual, again annoying their friends. They were all in Johnny's minivan on the way to Seulgi's house to go celebrate her and Taeyong's five-year anniversary. Renjun, Johnny, Mark, Donghyuck, Ten, Jaehyun, Chenle and Taeil all sat in the car as Doyoung drove, knowing the way best out of all of them.
He was happy for his best friend, the couple had gone through many struggles and hardships but had survived it all at the end of the day. He'd been there when the boy had cried his eyes out over their first break up, blubbering about how much he loved her and how he never wanted anything like that to happen again.
Right now, the only couple in the car, Doyoung and Renjun, were arguing again over why everyone had to go and why Johnny got to be in the passenger seat.
"I mean you did date a boy four years younger than you," Johnny pointed out, throwing his feet on the dashboard.
"Hey, I'm almost 19!" Renjun protested. Donghyuck laughed in his face. "Yeah and I'm almost 23."
"You guys weren't even legal for a whole year!" Chenle squeaked. Doyoung rolled his eyes at the road, annoyed that this had been brought up again for the hundredth time.
Renjun whimpered in his seat, turning away from everyone. "Hey, let's not talk about that, right now," Doyoung called out, looking at his boyfriend through the rear-view mirror. "Hey, baby, don't worry about it. It was a long time ago."
He nodded, closing his eyes for the rest of the ride, just listening to the music that played softly in the van. Conversation after that died down a little, calm and easy.
-
Twenty minutes later and they arrived at the large house, parking in the side street. They all hauled out of the van, screaming when Donghyuck 'accidently' hit Mark in the face. In a line they all walked to Seulgi's house, Johnny holding onto the anniversary gift that half the friends chipped into.
Doyoung knocked on the door confidently, nothing but happy for his best friend. He told the boys to quieten down behind him and stood straight, holding his back up.
The door opened and there welcomed them Seulgi, her blonde hair swept to the side to show her bare shoulders and off-shoulder dress. She smiled brightly at them, her dark gloss shining in the light. Damn, I wish I was like her, Doyoung thought as he looked at her, she's got everything.
"Hello! I'm so glad all of you could make it," she said, clapping her hands together. "Please come in, come in. We don't want any of you to catch a cold, now would we?" she ushered them all into the house.
They all were immediately hit with the loud music, some trap playing from Taeyong's favourite playlist that he had created years ago with Doyoung.
"MY BUNNY HAS ARRIVED!"
Looking to his side, Doyoung saw Taeyong shouting his way through the crowd to him, already drunk. He wasn't sure Seulgi approved of that. He also wasn't sure if Taeyong cared or not.
"Hey, Tae," he waved a little at his best friend, waiting for the older boy to come to his side. A glass of alcohol was pushed into his hand by a random girl and pushed closer to Taeyong's approaching body.
It was hot. Really hot. "Tae! I'm hot," he shouted, holding up his cup. All Taeyong did was laugh and wrap his sticky arms around the younger.
"Then take it all off," Taeyong whispered, laughing in his ear. Yep, definitely drunk. Doyoung rolled his eyes and pushed him away. He smiled and hit his shoulder lightly.
"Happy anniversary, idiot!" they both smiled at each other, jumping up and down to the music. "Look at my bestie being a man and getting the girl of his dreams," Doyoung smirked at Taeyong.
All he could do was laugh wholeheartedly, throwing his head back with the music and riding the waves of laughter as they danced. Doyoung still hadn't even taken off his jacket. But he still danced like there was no other night, completing blocking out anyone else besides the boy right in front of him.
"Look at me! My girl and my bestest friend right with me always," Taeyong shouted. People around them clapped and whistled. He looked happy.
Doyoung smiled. "Yeah, always."

Over at the bar sat Renjun with his beer, staring at the two as they danced and had fun, his eyes sad. He watched as the two fell on top of each other, spilling Doyoung's drink over them. They just laughed it off, going back to swinging their hips around each other. If Renjun had done that, he would've gotten a large scolding about being clumsy and a stupid child.
He sighed and turned away, drinking at his bottle. Jaemin and Jeno sat next to him shouting at each other to take in more shots. Renjun giggled a bit at them, looking over his beer as they fought more. They didn't notice him as they slammed down the glasses on the bench, seething through their teeth to get rid of the poisoning taste.
"Look, I fucking won!" Jaemin exhaled, throwing his hands around. Jeno shook his head at him, smiling at his friend.
"No way, you're obviously way more drunk than I am."
Jaemin shook his head, looking a bit like a dog shaking his fur dry. "Nope, nooooo, no way. I am king," he announced. His eyes suddenly landed on Renjun giggling behind Jeno's back and lit up, beckoning him closer. "Injunnie! Come here, come closer. Talk to meeee," he sung, eyes closing.
Jeno looked over and grabbed at his wrist, pulling him in. Their bodies collided and blew the breath out of Renjun, his cheeks darkening by the contact. His eyes immediately ran to Doyoung on the dance floor but his focus was still Taeyong. He whimpered pathetically and let the two of them distract him. It was all alright.
"Why are you so cute, Renjie?" Jaemin cooed, grabbing at his cheeks. Ugh, Renjun really hated drunk people. He swatted his hands away. "I'm not."
"Oof, I think you are. You look so sad, baby, why is baby so sad?" Jeno asked, pouting a little. His question seemed genuine, pausing his actions along with Jaemin waiting for an answer.
Renjun closed his eyes and willed himself not to look at his boyfriend again, willing himself to have a bit more respect for himself. He shouldn't be sad over such a little thing, it was just his best friend he was dancing with that's all. Same as what Renjun was doing now, with his best friends too.
He opened them and smiled, looking to each boy in turn. "I'm not sad. Should we go dance?"
They both nodded. Tonight would be a good night after all.
