KAITLYN STONE
Pain ebbed through my head as I came to surrounded by bright white lights. I groaned quietly squeezing my eyes tighter.
"Kaitlyn?' Jonathan's voice floated to me pulling me further out of my own head.
"Jonathan?" I sighed trying to open my eyes.
"It's so bright." I shook my head.
"I'll shut off the lights." He whispered.
It got darker and I managed to open my eyes as he came back to the bed and took my hand.
"Jonathan? Where are we?" I asked looking at him.
"We're at the hospital. What's the last thing you temember?" He asked gently.
"Wyatt came over with vodka. We sat on the couch doing shots. I got dizzy but I don't remember anything after that. What happened?" I asked suddenly anxious.
"When Cameron and I got home I heard your voice yelling upstairs. Wyatt was on top of you in the bed, holding you down. He gave you enough rohypnol to incapacitate three grown adults." He explained.
I sighed looking up at the ceiling.
"You don't seem surprised." He observed.
"After Chase died Wyatt took me over to his house to drink as a way to take my mind off things for a night. I was nineteen so I didn't have much experience with alcohol so when I got dizzy I thought it was normal. When I came to I was at home in bed alone and I couldn't remember anything after I got dizzy on his couch. I always just thought I'd gotten blackout drunk and he took me home but now with you telling me what you saw I'm wondering if this is the first time or if he managed to actually assault me seven years ago." I sighed again.
"I should have been more careful. I shouldn't have let him pour the shots."
"Kaitlyn..."
"Jonathan, I'm sorry."
"No. Katie, no. You didn't do anything wrong. I refuse to allow you to believe that you did anything to precipitate this. He took advantage of the loss of your stepfather and of your trust. You trusted him."
"I shouldn't have."
"Kaitlyn Stone, I've seen it over and over in the news. 'She shouldn't have dressed like that' or 'She shouldn't have trusted him. I'm telling you that there's nothing you could have done that made what he did okay. You could have answered the door stark naked and he would still have had no right to drug you or touch you." He gently ran his thumb across my knuckles as he spoke to me.
I looked over at him and swallowed hard.
"You're okay and that's all that matters." He stood up and gently pressed his lips to my forehead.
"I don't know how but you fought him off. You smashed the vodka bottle over his head before he grabbed your wrists. You're a fighter, Kaitlyn. You have to remember that."
I nodded my breath coming shakily.
"I want to go home."
"I know, sweetheart. I'll take you home soon."
"Don't leave me." I whispered.
"Baby, I'm not going anywhere." He soothed me resting his hand on my face.
"I promise you. I'm not going anywhere."
I pulled on him gently until he climbed into my hospital bed and let me lay my head on his chest as he held me in his arms.
The doctor insisted that I take the rest of the week off of work to handle the emotional trauma and the possible prolonged side effects of the rohypnol. For the most part I agreed.
"Jonny, Cam. I need to talk to you both about something important." I told them as we walked back into the house.
I froze when I walked into the living room.
"You're a stubborn woman, Kaitlyn. Just let it happen." Wyatt's voice echoed in my head.
"Kaitlyn? Are you okay?" Cameron asked walking up to me.
"Yeah. I just remembered something. It's not what I need to talk to you about."
"What is it you need to talk to us about?" Jonathan asked gently leading me to over to the loveseat next to the couch.
"Yesterday morning when I got to the office I was met by a CIA agent Jackson Morgan. He worked with Scott before he was murdered. He wants a meeting between our team and his."
"Is that really a good idea with what just happened?" Cameron asked gently.
"I can't just stop my life because someone decided to attack me. I can't and I won't."
I stood up and walked over to the dining room table where I'd left the picture of the woman before Wyatt came over.
"Do either of you recognize this woman?" I asked handing Jonathan the picture.
"No. Should I?" Jonathan asked as Cameron shook his head.
"Not necessarily. She's the woman that was after you the night we met after the show. She was standing not too far away from me in the crowd."
"To be completely honest I didn't notice anyone but you in that crowd." He smiled at me.
"Anyway, Jack Morgan thinks she's still after the two of you and wants to team up to find her and take her off the streets."
"Before they took me from the prison one of Blair's men said it was Blair's daughter who was after me in New York." Jonathan said looking at me with wide eyes.
"I didn't know Blair had a daughter but it honestly doesn't surprise me. He was a lot like me in that he didn't trust many people. It would make more sense for him to send his daughter. I just don't understand why he was after you before you met me."
"The man said it was your job with me that turned them onto you. They didn't expect you to be there."
"We need to figure out what they wanted with you and Cameron. That might lead us to her."
"Are we in danger?" Cameron asked looking at me.
"It's very likely that she's still after you both. It's possible that she knows that I killed her father. I honestly have no idea what she's willing to do. We don't even have her name. This picture is all we have to go on." I answered.
"We'll gather Gunter, Jordan and Dina and we'll go with you to meet this Jackson Morgan and his team whenever you're ready." Jonathan said looking up at me still holding the picture in his hand.
