The Start of Something New

In the beginning of time, there was nothing but darkness. Darkness that overlapped the entire galaxy, and in this darkness there was the existence of nix. In a universe beyond, there were these being of different calibers observing this darkness and fiddling with this darkness. With a snap of one's fingers, an explosion occurred. I stood there looking down on this mystical paroxysm and in a blink of an eye, tiny white, red, yellow, green and blue dots appeared far and beyond this once semblance of nihility. This was the start of a new life, from beyond and far. Each entity took their share of this neoteric chance. An opportunity to create an essence for their contentment; for their last occasion fell catastrophic to the elements of the new worlds. I, myself, was not included as one of these individuals because they harvested a power that I could never obtain. I was a right hand "man", so to say, to one of them that had declared to me at a young age that I was his own creation. As much as I would love to believe this (which I did for some time), there was something in my mind that was telling me that is was a misconception.
"Sheba, I declare you to watch over this obelisk they created that may link our two universes together."
Yeah, that was the first and the last time I heard such a command like so, for it seems to be centuries later, I'm still sitting in this fixed position overlooking nothing, but miles and miles of tan turf. The few terrains, as we call them, who have tried to pass me, have been stopped in their tracks, given a perplexity of mundane proportions and then, as routinely executed, devoured. Their soul and fleshly presence were now just substance in my entrails. I let out a long sigh and laid my head down on the golden stone below me as the sun began to lower beyond the horizon. It had been days upon days that have passed and not one creature had I come in contact with. I flicked my tail in dismay and prepared for my hourly nap. It seemed in less than a few minutes later, I was woken up aghast by a sharp tug of my ears. I shot up as quickly as possible, my claws promulgating and my head turning from side to side, looking for what had caused the jerk. At first I was confused because I did not see anyone, until I heard giggling below me and a voice murmur "such a cute kitty!" I looked down and saw a child, who looked to be about six or seven years old, staring back up at me.
"What are you doing here?" I asked her. I looked around, "And where are your parents?" I paused for a moment and looked at her again, in doing so, a certain scent filled my nostrils and I brought my face closer to the child to sniff her. I knew that smell from anywhere.
"Oh, look what we have here, an Aluka, what are you doing out here?" I glared at her in dismay. She smiled in my face and gave me a peck like kiss on my nose. In shock I fell back and hit my head on the side of the stone before rolling off into the sand.
"Ugh, you decrepit thing, how dare an Aluka like yourself touch your dirty lips on me, a Sphinx?"
The odious creature let out a sort of adorable giggle and grinned at me. Her bronze eyes flickered as she watched me conscientiously, waiting for my next move. I wiped my hand across my face – trying to rid my nose of the germs that my have accumulated through contact.
"Why are you here in the middle of nowhere Ms. Kitty?" She asked inquisitively.
I adjusted my gaze on the urchin, and with a spite of fury answered, "Why are you here is a better question? Where are your parents? Why have you dared come to me and tried to challenge me to this ordeal, when you know a young Aluka like yourself could never take on a Sphinx like me?"
Now, the thing about me is that I was a winged Sphinx. Like a thing out of pure legend, my immaculate auriferous wings expanded to a span of 12 feet. They were the bulk of my talent; for winged Sphinx (being as few as we are) were able to control every element this planet had to offer. We were the partisans of Mother Nature - being able to control the winds, water, plants, and the rays of the star which gave life to this world. Of course the majority of the Sphinx (which were wingless) gave us higher authority and the beings that had created us, proclaimed us as their right hand compeers.
Aluka, or Methuselahs as some people might refer them as, are filth of the earth. They aren't shedims, though they aren't alive so to say. They enjoy guzzling the succulent crimson nectar from almost any being they can get their paws on. They, rightfully so, being things which most likely Osiris himself devised, are known as our natal foe.
