I was currently sitting in the passenger seat beside my mother on my way home. Home was never over in New York, it was here in Southend with Amirah, the same Amirah I never said goodbye to or kept in contact with and now that I'm back I'm sure as hell sure she hates me.
"Darling why do you look so worried" my mother turns to me.
My mother was very beautiful, I got my green eyes from both my mother and fathers, my hair was a mixture between, I got my brown hair from my dad but because mums is black, I had a more of a dark tinge to it.
"I'm just thinking about Amirah" I mumble and look out the window.
"She will forgive you dear" my mother says and I sigh, sliding further into my seat.
"I highly doubt that" I reply and my mother gives my a sympathy look.
We moved to NewYork two years ago and that was mainly because of me, it was my choice to move but only because I was causing a bad name for my family and that meant my fathers business failing.
We drove past the familiar sign that read "welcome to Southend" the sigh that Amirah and I would drive to and seat on my car hood dreaming of our future.
"Do the Anson's still live in the same house" I ask and my mother smiles.
"They sure do and I have a surprise" she giggles and I roll my eyes.
We drove through the small town for a bit before pulling into the familiar street and pulling into the house beside Amirah's.
I got out and looked at my mother, she just smiles and hands me a key.
"We bought the house beside Amirah's" she tells me and I could feel the look of shock make it's way onto my face.
"You gave up a lot letting us move and so your father and I wanted to help fill in any holes or hearts that you broke from moving away" she says softly why placing her hand onto my shoulder.
My mother and I walk up to the Ansons's house and I freeze, what is she is right there when we walk in, what if she slaps me, what if...
My mother knocks on the door and I take a deep breathe in. Luckily Amirah's mother opens the door and lets us in, I sit at the kitchen counter and watch the two reunite with each other, Amirah's mother and mine were best friends with each other growing up and so my mother leaving had also broke a few hearts while leaving.
"Amirah is up stairs still" Amirah's mother tells me.
"Does she hate me?" I question and Amirah's mother nods her head softly.
