Chapter 1

Chase's POV

As I came back from Jake's mountain, I couldn't stop thinking on when my next visit to see Jake and Everest was going to be. I had been visiting them at least once every two days. And even that didn't seem to be enough for me.

I really loved skiing with Everest as Jake happily watched from above attending some people doing their own skiing.

Everest was so fluid at it, almost as if she where born to skii. I loved watching her beautiful baby blue fur moving with the freezing wind as she skied down the mountain. Her eyes gleaming with joy as she hollered and weeed happily. Every once in a while she did a trick like jumping and making a twirl in the air before landing swiftly in the white, fluffy snow. I was always right besides her enjoying every single moment of it.

As I walked back, I kept thinking of the times Jake would call us in to eat fresh baked brownies. Jake seriously made some delicious brownies. If you ever tried them, you'd be staying there pleading for more.

My friends at the lookout said they where worried about me because I spent all my free time up at Jake's mountain. Marshall and I had had an intense argument just two days ago about wether if we where true best friends or not. 

Marshall believed that I just never spent enough time with him since I either was on a mission, on patrol, or up at Jake's Mountain. Honestly though, that guy should just catch me some slack. Just because my schedule is real busy doesn't mean that he should come and complain about our time together.

But honestly, I kind of feel like Everest is my new best friend now. Of course I wouldn't admit it to any of my friends, not even Everest. And I'm actually kind of surprised that I'm sharing this with you right now. But you see, our little argument ended with Marshall slapping me in the face and stomping off with his face as red as his firetruck.

Of course you already know it's because of anger. But I decided to go with the fact that he thought I was too handsome and decided I was too worthy of a pup for him. Yeah, I deserved that face-smack, but why not?

I was thinking about the last words Ecrest had said to me before I left to go back to the lookout....

"Chase! That was real fun! Thanks for skiing with me again! Please come back tomorrow! I really love it when you're here."

"Thanks Everest! I'll do anything I can so I can come back"

"Uh, Chase...I've been wanting to tell you this for a long time, and now I........Ugh, nevermind. I'll tell you sometime else. Uh, bye! Nice having you for a visit"

"He he, see you tomorrow"

With that I left to go to the lookout. I finally reached the bottom of the mountain and went towards my parked police cruiser. As I hopped in and started to drive back, I couldn't help but think about some of the words Everest was going to say.

I wondered what Everest was about to say before she stopped. It seemed kind of important. Maybe she was going to say that Jake finally learned how to bake doughnuts without burning them. Or that she and Jake finally got me another pair of skiis that didn't have a crack on them. Or maybe she was finally going to reveal her secret on how to do a quadruple flip in midair and landing gently on the snow like she did.

That is something I have been trying to get out of her but had no success. She would always look at me, smile, and dive down the mountain. I've been trying to master it myself. But I hadn't have had any success. Please do not ask me to show you my progress, the least you wanna see is a german shephard fur ball rolling down a snowy mountain and landing with a thud at the base. Emerging looking like a  blue snowed-covered porcupine with a mouth full of snowballs and a very grumpy mood.
