Neverland One Shot

As soon as I saw you

I knew a grand adventure

was about to happen

~ A.A. Milne Winnie the Pooh

Mia glanced around at the pillars that surrounded her. Looking up they seemed to go on and on. Until they appeared to stop at the clouds.

The Parthenon in Greece had always been one of the places she dreamed to go if she could free herself. Now she had freedom, and she got to share this amazing sight with the one who gave her what she had wished for so long.

Leo was walking around taking pictures of anything that caught his eye. His attention was focused and the passion for what he did made Mia smile.

Once her brother met Leo he approved quickly. Even when she said that she would be leaving for a long time with Leo her brother was making his own family and had let go of part of his protectiveness. Mia was still close to him and missed her brother terribly, but right now was her time to explore parts of herself she never knew existed.

They were the unbeatable team. Taking the world by storm. The photographer and the writer.

Leo told Mia he would take her away, and take her away he did. They have been traveling the earth taking pictures and writing about their adventures.

They complimented each other in the best way. Mia was Leo's ears and his amazing way of looking at things had opened her eyes to things she might have never noticed before.

Their love had blossomed. The engagement ring glittered on Mia's finger in the sunlight that came through the ceiling of the Parthenon. They had gotten away, and they did it together. Living out their dreams, together.

As if Leo could sense her eyes on him he turned around and grinned at the smile that graced her lips that were somehow too big, yet perfect on her. Mia's happiness was all that mattered to him.

"Ready for lunch, babe?" Leo smirked playfully. Mia laughed at the name, remembering how freaked out she had been when he had called her that the first time. Everything now was as smooth and sweet as it had been since the first "I love you's".

Mia grabbed his hand as her stomach grumbled, and pulled him towards the picnic basket they had left in the shade of a pillar as they went to work. The blanket they laid out had extra cushion since some of their trips were not in the most comfortable of places. Mia shuttered at the thought of their trip to Alaska when their rental broke down and they had to sit on a block of ice with only their trusty picnic blanket until someone could come pick them up.

Leo plopped himself down and began digging through the basket. He pulled out two sandwiches, water, and a pear. Leo had eventually started copying Mia's little habits as well as Mia catching on to his. Like the shaking of car keys when nervous, or folding the tin foil when they finished their sandwiches.

Once they finished eating with Mia mouthing words to Leo clearly and Leo laughing at her not so funny jokes that were funny to him, Leo got up and offered Mia a hand. She took is hand willingly while giving him a questioning look as if to ask why they were standing up again since their work was done for the day.

Leo simply smiled and got out Mia's music player. He flipped through songs until he found the ones that would make his love smile. Once they started to play Mia's face lit up and Leo pulled her to him so they could sway and lightly dance in the shadows of the Parthenon.

Leo assumed their love was like this magnificent structure. Strong and secure enough to last for thousands of years. Even when they may be old and crumbling their love will still be there.

Mia thought about all the travels they had been through. Never would she have dreamed her want to be let out of the cage turn into something this spectacular.

She never thought she would see Paris. She never thought she could see such wonderful things. She never thought she would meet a guy as amazing as Leo. He was her everything.

Leo softly nuzzled his nose in her freshly dyed black hair, her vanilla scent filling his lungs with it's sweetness. Mia was why he breathed, why he smiled, why he laughed, and why he spoke. No longer did they use the white board. He could read her by the lips or even just expressions.

They were perfect for each other. The writer and photographer. The one who could hear and the one who couldn't. They were playful. They were gentle. They were love.

Mia didn't need to go anywhere to find freedom. She found freedom in the one who was always by her side.
