Kloe had managed to find Agua and Juniper in the maze, but after nearly an hour of searching, they still couldn't find Pele or Alice. Kloe had just arrived at the end of the hallway leading to the ladder. Just as she was about to grab the ladder, Alice jumped onto her, bringing her into yet another bear hug. "What took you guys so long?" Alice said as Agua held her head in her lilac hand.
Just as Kloe was about to answer, Pele came running out of the maze, and froze when she saw everyone was already there, "Well, apparently I'm not very good at mazes".
"Well come on everybody! Let's get out of this grey maze!" Alice said as she climbed the ladder and opened the trapdoor.
After Alice came out, she started jumping up and down in excitement. Juniper climbed up from the ladder, then put her hands an Alice's arms, trying to calm her down, but Alice just went underneath her arms, threw the door open, and ran out. She skipped down the hall as everyone else followed her. Alice suddenly turned left and started running. "Alice?" Pele yelled after, then started running after, but stopped where she turned.
Kloe jogged up to her, and saw that Alice had run into the throne room. Alice was in a hug with the king and queen. Alice broke from the hug, and looked at the group staring at the door. "Guys, come meet my parents!" She said, still staying close to her parents.
As they walked up, Kloe stopped and bowed at the king and queen. "No need for that young one" King Benjamin said as he held his hand up, "Judging from the sword in your hand, I'd say that your the one who released my daughter. Queen Amelia glared at Kloe, "How did you get in her?" She asked as Kloe went stiff.
Everyone's gazes went to Kloe, all wondering what the answer would be, seeing from her clothes, that Kloe wouldn't normally be allowed in the castle. "I..." Kloe dragged out, not looking forward to explaining, ".....snuck....in..." Kloe explained.
"What!?" Queen Amelia screamed as she stomped up to her. Before the queen yelled at Kloe again, she noticed the sword that the child held, "You don't deserve that sword!" The queen yelled at her again as she took the sword from Kloe.
As soon as Kloe's hand left the sword, it dropped to the ground. The queen struggled as she tried to move the sword, but ultimately, it had no effect. The queen - eventually - stopped trying, stood up straight, dusted off her dress, then walked back to the king. Kloe picked up the sword, that had only managed to make it a few inches before it hit the ground, then walked up to the king and queen. The queen stared at Kloe with wide eyes, and a gawking mouth. "So, how did you find your way through that maze?" King Benjamin said, just getting over the confusion of the scene that just happened in front of him. "I found a map in my families wine cellar" She responded.
Kloe took the map out of her pocket, and handed it to the king. The king looked at it for a few seconds, and muttered something, Kloe only hearing the words 'looks' and 'society'. The king handed the map back to Kloe, ignoring the mumbling that had happened seconds before. "Seeing as you're the new ancient one, I'd say that you'd have to go see the guards at the border, they'll inform you about the Somnian's" The king explained.
"Wait one minute" Kloe said before getting pushed out the door. Kloe turned around, trying to get someone's attention, "I don't even know how to use a-" The door slammed in her face before she could finish, "Sword.." Kloe finished, even though it was obvious that no one was listening.
When Kloe turned back around, Brandon was standing in front of her, a glare on his face. The guardians were staring at the guards standing at the gate entrance, all of them nervous except for Alice, who was making goo-goo eyes at Brandon. "You are officiously, the craziest person, I have ever met" Brandon said, anger seeping into his sarcastic tone.
Kloe looked at Brandon with an apologetic gaze, "I'm sorry Brandon. But curiosity killed the cat.....wait...." Kloe stopped as she noticed how dark that sounded.
Brandon stared at her with the gods stone face, when he turned around to see Alice still making goo-goo eyes at him. Alice got up and stood in front of Brandon, "Hi, I'm Alice" Alice said as though she was in a trance, "I'm Brandon?" Brandon replied, confused and uncomfortable.
Kloe saw Pele gag as she grabbed Alice and dragged her away from the obviously uncomfortable Brandon. "Who was she?" Brandon asked as he pointed to Alice behind him without turning around, "Apparently, she's the lost princess" Kloe replied to him.
Brandon repeated her words in a whisper, before dismissing the thought when Kloe started talking, "We were told that we had to go to the Redam border", Kloe said, which caused Brandon to widen his eyes, "....What?...." He asked, too confused to yell.
Brandon shook his head, "Fine, whatever, you do your thing, and I'll make sure dad doesn't send out a search party for you like he nearly did this morning." Brandon said as he walked away. As he left, the guards followed him, proving that they were there to monitor him while he was near the palace.
"Well" Pele said as she turned to Kloe, "Let's go to the border" She said, causing Kloe stare at her like she was crazy, "You aren't seriously thinking of going to the border, are you?" Kloe asked.
Pele looked at her like the answer was the most obvious thing in the world, "I don't know of anything better to do."
Kloe stared at her, trying to think of a comeback, "Touché"
