Optimism - Pessimism

Optimism is like sifting through sand in a desert with no tools and only your hands,

watching as the grains fall back in place,

 but you still keep looking.

 Your hope never fades,

just as the blistering heat never ceases to pound the ravaged hills of sand.

Pessimism is sitting by the spot where the buried treasure lies and staring at the sand,

counting each grain and looking at the barren surroundings,

taking in the world and its difficulties,

but not attempting to overcome them because you gave up so long ago.
