Felicityfell to her knees.. "How bad is it this time?" She whispered intothe phone.

"Verybad.. She's in a coma, and the doctors don't know if she's going towake up are not. It's not looking good."

Felicityfell silent, as tears started to fall slowly down her cheek. Horrificmemories of her childhood started to play inside her mind. She couldsee her ten year old self screaming and crying at the lady on thephone.

............

"Mymom!! She won't wake up!! There's blood everywhere." She cried.

"Okay, sweetheart I have help on the way. Can you tell me what happened?"The nice women said calmly.

"Idon't know! I just got home from school. She always does this!! Whycan't we just have a normal mom!" She cried.

Whileon the phone, she also had to try to calm down her younger brother. He was only four at the time. She felt protective of him, ever sincethe day he was born. She knew that he would have a hard life, becauseshe had already been through it all. She felt determined to shelterhim from everything that she could. That, however, became difficultwhen she started school.

Everydayat school, she would stress and worry over him. She never knew howshe would find him. One time she came home to him running around inthe street. At just a two years old he was alone and scared. Herparents were nowhere to be found. She thanked God everyday that hedidn't get hit by a car.

Lookingback on it now, she realized she never really had a childhood. Shehad to become a mom at just six years old. For the longest time shefelt like taking Thomas and running far far away. Of course, everytime she tried they were brought right back home.

.........

Felicitywas lost in the past, as the silence lingered on. She almost forgotthat her brother was still on the phone.

"Felicity??Are you there? I really need you. I know you're busy these dayshelping keep the bills paid up for us, but could you come home? Justuntil she's okay again..."

Herheart was breaking into a million pieces. It was not hurting for hermom that had put herself into a coma by using God only knows whatdrugs. It was tearing apart for her dear brother that did not deserveto be in this situation. She had come to hate her mom for the mess ofa person she was.

Hermom spent her days getting high any way she could. She didn't carewhat she was putting into her body, all she wanted was to escape. Herdad had left, not long after her brother was born. It had been adream come true for her. She loathed her dad, even more than her mom.

Herdad was the reason her mom had become an addict in the first place. Not only was he controlling, he was abusive as well. He made life aliving hell for both Felicity and her mom. Her mom turned to drugs,as a way to escape the pain.

"I'llbe as soon as I can," she told him.

Tryingto push the darkened thoughts of her childhood out of her mind, shejumped up. She frantically started packing. She threw random clothesin her suitcase. Running to the bathroom she grabbed her toothbrushand a few other items.

Roughlyten minutes had past since she had gotten off of the phone withThomas. Grabbing her phone, she called a taxi. It was only an hourdrive home, but it would cost her greatly. Between paying both herbills and her families bills, these days she didn't have much moneyto spare. However her brother needed her, and she would do anythingon earth for him.
