"Dammit, Serenity can't you just pull it together? You're 17 for god's sake, not a damn child. You don't have any reason to be out drinking in general. It's Saturday what are you going to go out again? I knew those damn kids were a bad influence. You don't see Aubrey doing this do you?," my mom raged.

It practically radiated off her.

"Mom-"

"Don't 'mom' me Serenity you need to focus on reality okay? Do I need to write it out for you?" She spat.

Then before I knew it her hand collided with my face so hard and I felt her long nails leave scratches on my skin. It stung like hell.

"I'm sorry mom okay?" I whispered.

"I'm sorry that I'm not perfect. I'm sorry that I always make bad choices. I'm sorry that you don't like my friends. I'm sorry that I spend too much time with Aaron. I'm sorry for whatever else I do. Okay? I'm sorry that I'm not like Luke or Aubrey," I cried.

"Serenity-"

"Please just-don't"

At this point, I was sobbing on the floor. I couldn't deal with it and my chest was tight.
I started to shake and I could barely breathe because of how tight my chest had become.
I knew I was having a panic attack but my mom hasn't seen me have one in 2 years.
I think that's was the first time that night that I saw any emotion in her eyes.

It was a glimpse but I saw it.

Her eyes almost looked nervous.
I tried to focus on my breathing I really did.

In...and out...in...and out

"Serenity Rose c'mon stop it," my mom said looking at me but I didn't have time to look back I was trying to not pass out.

[Aaron's]

I parked my car in Reny's driveway then walked into her house to surprise her.

I saw Serenity on the floor having a panic attack? I ran to her and pulled her into my lap. I made sure her head was on my chest so she could hear my heartbeat.

"Match your breathing to mine okay babe?" I spoke lowly and she nodded slowly.

I rocked her back and forth and held her tightly to try and stop her from shaking. Her mom Alyssa was just watching but it wasn't my place to say anything about it.

"You're okay. Just breathe okay? In and out slowly. I'm right here," I whispered in her ear then kissed her forehead.

After a few minutes, she was way more calm and stable but was still a little shaky and still had hiccups so I just rocked her back and forth. The door suddenly opened and her older brother Luke walked in.

His gaze soon shifted to us and his eyes widened and he rushed over.

"What happened?" He asked his voice laced with concern.

"I'm not too sure but when I got here she was on the floor having a panic attack so I rushed over to try and help," I spoke and he looked to his mom.

"Thank you so much man," he said and his eyes flickered to his now sleeping sister.

"Don't worry Luke she's my girlfriend you know I'll always make sure she's okay especially when you're not home," I said standing up with her in my arms to carry her upstairs.

Luke followed as I walked upstairs into her room. I laid her down and put a blanket over her body.

I licked my lips as I stared at her.
