Love Land

Part One.

March 1982

She wasn't wearing a wedding dress
In a Vegas wedding chapel
They were herding 'em in and out of there
Like they were cattle
Not exactly the fairytale that she had planned
But mama said, "Aren't you supposed to get married, girl
Before you bring a baby in this world?"
And all she could say was "yes ma'am"
She called her from that chapel
In Love Land
She said, "Mama, I really love this man"
Love Land

Cher was sitting at the kitchen table with her mom and her boyfriend. Georgia had come over while Chastity and Elijah were at school so they could talk. Cher rested her hand on her stomach beneath the table even though she was only seven weeks along and couldn't yet feel any movement. She had only known about their child for four weeks. Her mom, his parents, and her children found out the week after and the rest of the family found out soon after. Her other hand was resting in Andy's on the table, with their fingers interlaced.

Sure, this pregnancy was unplanned and a complete surprise, but they already loved their child. They wouldn't change how anything had happened.

Georgia looked at her daughter, she could tell how much she loved Andy and how much he loved her right back. She spoke, "I was talking to Amelie and René the other day and we agreed on the conclusion that you need to get married before this child is born. As well before the public gets word of the pregnancy."

She paused, "Plus, it would please both side of the family that this child is being born to married parents."

Cher spoke, "But Mom,-"

Georgia interrupted, "Do no argue with me Cherilyn. You heard what I said."

She nodded, "Yes, ma'am."

She said, "Do you love him?"

Cher nodded, "Yes, with all of my heart."

She turned to Andy, "Do you love her?"

Andy nodded, "Yes, very much so. I would do anything for her."

Georgia nodded and spoke, "Then good, this shouldn't be a problem."

With that being said, she got up from the table and walked into the other room, leaving the couple to discuss everything. Cher turned to Andy before leaning into him. He kissed the top of her head. They truly did love one another. They had both mentally decided that it was best to just please both sides of the family, that way no one would judge their child just because he or she was conceived out of wedlock. She leaned up and kissed his lips, smiling slightly when she felt him kiss her back. They fully understood each other. She finally spoke, "Maybe we should just make the drive to Vegas this weekend. I want my children and Paulette to be there."

He nodded, "She could be your maid of honor and I could get my brother to be my best man."

She smiled lightly, she liked that idea. They finalized everything else that they would need before then.

Four days later, they left at six o'clock that Saturday morning with Chastity, Elijah, and Pauly in tow to the four drive to Las Vegas. Andy's brother, René would be meeting them there, so they would need to pick him up at the airport. His flight would be getting there shortly after they would. The trip there seemed quicker than the four hours it truly took to get there. They wouldn't ve staying the night, so they didn't need to check into a hotel room. They had decided to head straight to the airport once they got into town. To make his brother found them, they waited by the baggage claim. It was only about five minutes later when René found them. The brothers brought each other into a hug, once they pulled away, Andy turned towards the group. He said, "This is my beautiful fiancee, Cher. Her children, Chastity and Elijah, and her best friend Paulette."
