Episode 4 The Sorting Hat/A New House

As they walked through the castle all of first years looked at everything. For the young witches and wizards who grew up in this realm Hogwarts was overwhelming. But for Roland it like entering a new realm all over again. Even his mom's castle in the Enchanted Forest paled in comparison.

He could tell right away that the magic in the castle felt strange. He couldn't put his finger on why but there was something different about it.

In what felt like no time at they were outside the great hall.

Professor Slughorn- Greetings first years. Slughorn said in booming voice.

Roland looked up and saw a overweight man with a walrus-moustache wearing fudge coloured robes.

Slughorn- I am Professor Slughorn head of Slytherin house. Now please tell me how many of you know what the different houses represent? Slughorn asked curiously.

One by one all of students said they knew all about the houses.

Slughorn- That's very impressive. Slughorn said sincerely.

Little did Roland know he wasn't the only student from another realm. Professor McGonagle had hand picked over 20 new off-realm students. She believed that enough time had passed sense the war to start reaching out to other realms.

Slughorn continued to explain about the school to the first years. He explained about the moving staircases, forbidden forest, quidditch season, certain classes and house-cup. Or lack there of. After McGonagle became headmistress she voiced her distain for it. Saying it only succeeded in dividing the school. She thought that good deeds shouldn't be ranked for one's owe benefit. She hadn't brought up before because only a united vote could overturn such a old tradition and she knew that Snape would never agree. Unlike Slughorn Snape had been extremely competitive. Slughorn while just as proud to be in Slytherin. Was a lot more relaxed and fair in his teaching style.

After the tutorial Slughorn led them inside the great hall to a stool were the sorting had sat. Professor Sprout stood next to sorting hat with a big smile on her face.

Sprout- it's wonderful to greet so many new faces. Sprout said joyfully.

Roland looked around. There did seem to quite a lot of new students. He looked up when Professor Sprout read the first name. As the girl got sorted Roland fidgeted with the inside on his sleeve. He was a mixture of excited and nervous. One by one students were sorted until Sprout called Roland's name. As he walked to the stool Roland looked at Roger who had been sorted into Slytherin. He sat on the stool as the sorting hat was placed on his head. Roland took a deep breath and waited for the voice of the sorting hat to be in his head.
