The sun descended lazily down the horizon as critters and crickets of the night began singing their songs. You had spent the last two hours watching the team rehearse it seemed almost without moving. You stayed in your spot in the arched windows, occasionally adjusting for comfort.
Yours eyes never left his form however. Except only in the brief pauses he looked your way, then pretending to become fascinated with the grain of the wall. You were usually much smoother but he was just intoxicating. Somehow you barely just met him and he was still the most striking boy you'd ever seen. His jaw seemed to cut the air when he talked, his prominent cheeks always deepening when he shot a charming smile your way. However the one thing you seemed to not tear your attention from was his energy. He seemed so happy in the air. He liked to pretend it was just for appearances and he didn't genuinely enjoy zipping after that beautiful golden ball. But you could tell it was all a facade. In those moments he was beautiful. Not just physically beautiful, that he already had going for him. His heart was beautiful. He seemed to radiate confidence and joy. You smiled as you hoped you got to see more of it as you got to know him.
Quidditch practice soon ended, the boys calling out good game to eachother as they parted their sweaty ways. You watched as Tom trotted over to you excitedly, water canister in hand as he approached you.
"Hey stalker. So what did you think? I reckon we're pretty awful but cant be as bad as the hufflepuff team,"he joked cheekily, brushing a strand of his soft black hair back.
"Hmmm definitely not a team of Kenmare Kestrals but you're the best of the lot. You show promise. When you said you played I didn't think you took it so seriously," you smiled up at him, taking his extended hand as you got up and brushed off.
"Ah well, I don't know about all that...but it does give me something to do other than academics so why not," he chuckled with a slightly embarrassed blush. "Anyway, besides that you promise to join for dinner. So, shall we?" he said with a smile and offered his arm.
You nodded and blushed nervously, quietly taking his arm and hooking it with your own as you two walked down the corridor.

Dinner started awkwardly as Tom made small introductions to all his close friends, nodding reassuringly as you sat down next to him. Dumbledore started with his usual kind of entrance, this one being short and sweet as there was a special trifle the Headmaster claimed to have his eye on. The whole room quickly got to eating, sounds of chatter mixing over forks scraping and chewing noises.
You yourself ate quite daintily, wanting badly to impress Tom and his friends, as it seemed Tom was as well. You both sat side by side contently, occasionally reaching across for a certain tasty treat or drink. You talked (briefly) about your home life and family, him talking even less. You dodged around various subjects till you found one you both had in common.
You loved writing, and from what you gathered from Toms largely mostly filled journal, he did as well. Incantations were also a common ground. You both loved learning new spells and how to enact them on people. You teased him as he asked what kind of charms you preferred, joking that if they weren't with his friends, by this point you'd be casting some kind of love charm, usually simple urge to kiss.
He blushed at that and hoped you hadn't noticed. You did. Eventually dinner came to an end, friends parting as they made their way to common rooms for school work. Tom had a better idea. You squealed as he led you down the halls hurriedly after dinner, insisting you be quiet so as not to be caught.
"This is the in-between moments of the night. When everyone is going somewhere after dinner so we can better blend in. It is getting dark however so we have to be quick," he said excitedly in a hushed tone.
You mostly couldn't stop focusing on the fact he was holding your hand. Willingly! You went red fairly quickly as you stumbled after him. "Where are you taking me Tom?" you panted behind him, watching as you realized you were approaching the fields again.
"You'll see don't worry," he smirked coyly.
