Dear Dean,
You should know that when it comes to an ideal or even perfect date, the picture can be painted very differently depending on the young lady being asked.
Though there are millions of different girls with different personalities, I like to cut the list down to three groups:
First, you have the social butterfly. An ideal date for such a lass might include a nice dinner or perhaps a stroll through the park. This way, you can both get to know eachother, share a couple laughs, and create a stronger bond.
Next is the wall flower. A good time with this young miss would be something a little more relaxed, such as a movie or a group date with some friends. This allows for a more laid back atmosphere, ensuring no awkward silences or a constant need to entertain your date.
Finally, there is me. A bit of a mix of the two. I'm no social butterfly, but unlike a wall flower date, I would like to talk a bit and get to know my date better. A movie is always enjoyable, however I would like to go home with a better knowledge of the person I went out with.
So here is what I envision:
You swing by my house as the sun begins to set. You take a moment to shake hands with my dad before I shoo him away with a blush. I hop into your truck in my darling blue sun dress and we drive a little ways out of town. When I ask, you refuse to tell me where we are going. I joke that you are dragging me out into some cornfield to kill me and you give me a hot, devilish look that makes my breath hitch.
I'm a little surprised when you really do pull over into an empty corn field off a forgotten dirt road. Crickets lull me into a trace along with the occasional croak of a frog from a nearby creek. We step out of the truck and I inhale a fresh, cool breath of the summer night. When you pull out blankets and pillows from the back seat, I begin to catch on and grab an armful to lug into the bed of the truck.
We make a comfortable bed of blankets to lay on and you pull up a movie on your tablet. As we watch, we nibble at the snacks and sweets you brought and at some point your arm ends up around me when you notice me shivering. When the credits roll, we end up on our backs, staring up at the vivid stars above us. We either point out constellations or sit in a comfortable silence as we view nature's beauty. We share secrets and laughs and when I'm about to fall asleep in your arms, you reluctantly decide it's time to take me home.
No other date will ever top it. And I'll never forget that night of star gazing.
