"NO!" I scream as I throw myself in front of Brodie and Bobbi. Brodie hugs Bobbi tight to his chest and Bobbi whimpers.
"Kate, calm down. Everything is going to be OK," I hear Whitley's voice booming from speakers on the outside of the plane that has landed in the street.
"I won't let you hurt them!" I yell at the plane.
"Who says we're going to hurt them?" Whitley says. There's a funny squealing noise and Leo's voice takes over.
"I do," he says. "Katie, you don't know what you've done to Apolline by leaving. I'm not even going to try and explain. When you get home, you'll see."
"I have to bring these people back with me, Leo!" I yell. "They can't-"
"They're not coming back, Kate," Leo says calmly. He walks out of the plane, dressed in a uniform, wearing a vest, and holding a gun. I step back, startled, but quickly drop my bag and put my hands by my side. Bobbi and Brodie copy me.
"Katie, you know I won't hurt you," Leo says. He walks over to me, slings the gun over his shoulder and kisses me. Tears fall unexpectedly onto my cheeks. "If I hurt anyone, it will be the people who kept you here."
"No one kept me here, I stayed here because I left for a reason," I tell him. He wipes the tears away. “You know why I left.”
"Well then I guess we'll find out," he says. Then, as if rage has suddenly overtaken his whole body and mind, he begins to yell and order people around. Almost everyone on the street has come out of their houses and is standing on the curb. "Everyone, on your knees!" Leo yells. Everyone except for Brodie, Bobbi and I, obey his order. Linae comes rushing out.
"Brosdon! What's going on?" Linae sounds panicked. She has managed to get dressed and come rushing out looking awake.
"Nothing, Linae, just do what the rest of us are," Brodie says.
"Sorry ma'am but you'll have to come over here and join these people," Leo says respectively as he takes Linae's arm and leads her to the curb. "See, Kate? No one is hurt."
"Just get it over and done with, Leo," I say through clenched teeth.
"Katie, calm down," he says with a smile. "OK! I'm Soldier Maxturn of Apolline, I've come to take back a fellow soldier! Who was holding her against her will?"
"Leo!" I hiss. "No one was!"
