Marinette sighed and yawned as she climbed the stairs up to her room. She was so ready to just fall on her bed and go to sleep with no care in the world. But she did have a care in the world. She had to finish her design for an evening gown so that she could turn it in with her application to design school.

She sat down at her desk and began tweaking her design and adding details, she wanted it to be perfect so that she could get into her dream school.

After a while, Marinette was disrupted from her world of fashion, by a tap, tap, tap at her trapdoor. Marinette knew exactly who it was. For the past few years Chat had been visiting her every so often. He would knock on her trapdoor, she would let him in, and they would chat for a couple of hours before he had to leave so that he wouldn't be missed at home. He said he was visiting her because he just liked talking to her, but Marinette suspected there was something more to it, maybe tonight she would figure out what it was.

She got up from her chair and eased the door open, barely getting it all the way open before Chat Noir jumped in and landed gracefully in her loft. "What is it that you want today, Chat?" Marinette asked with a pretend indifference, but he saw through it.

He smirked at her before replying, "oh, the usual. Just wanted to talk with my friend."

"About," Marinette pushed.

He hesitated still more, than gave in. "It's about my father, ok?" Marinette frowned.

"What'd he say this time?"

"I know he didn't mean to say it, but I think that he believes it." Chat sniffled

Marinette gently touched his shoulder and asked quietly, "what did he say?"

"He said that I was impossible to love and that it was impossible for me to love."

Marinette pulled her chin into her chest in shock. "Chat, there is no way that is true! You are the sweetest, kindest, bravest, most genuine guy I have ever met, and I'm positive that you are just as much so out of the mask. You are always honest about how you feel, and you truly believe the nicest things about other. You only see the best in others, and I think that that is love. You feel love towards every person that you encounter, whether it be in saving them from an akuma, or signing an autograph, or just passing through the streets. All of Paris knows that you are amazing and would give so much to be loved by you, because they all know that you are more than capable of giving and getting love."

Marinette's rant ran out and she just stared at Chat, her blush getting darker and darker. "Sorry," she blurted, "did I overstep my boun-"

Chat stopped her doubts by hugging her. "No. you said just the right thing. That was exactly what I needed. I don't know how to thank you."

Marinette mumbled something into his shoulder and her knew that she was telling him that he didn't have to worry about it, but he did worry about it.

They continued to hug, Marinette now lifting her arms to wrap them around Chat in order to reciprocate the touch. She closed her eyes in pure contentment. It felt so right to be with Chat and even more right to be wrapped up in his arms. Even though she could barely see because her face was firmly in the hollow of his shoulder, she felt like no one had ever seen her more clearly than Chat was seeing her now. He knew so much about her and he cared about her.

Chat leaned down to whisper in her ear. "I think I know how I can repay you for your wonderful, comforting, heart-touching words."

A shiver ran down Marinette's spine as she looked up and asked in a throaty voice, "and how is that?"

"Like this." He kissed her cheek, then looked at her for permission before kissing her mouth. At first, he kissed her gently and slowly, then he got more insistent, kissing her over and over.

Marinette didn't know how to responds at first, but Chat made it easy for her to get involved in the kiss. He guided her mouth and soon enough both were hungrily kissing each other without restraint. Chat gently placed his hands on either side of her neck, one of his thumbs reaching up to play in the hair of her pigtail and the other lovingly caressing the hollow behind her ear.

Marinette sighed, thoroughly enjoying herself, and Chat took that as assent as he stepped even closer to her. Marinette placed her arms on top of his so that she could repeatedly run her fingers through his hair. She moved her fingers through his hair with what he felt was magic and this time Marinette was rewarded with a sigh from Chat. She quirked an eyebrow, but just continued kissing him.

Chat took several steps toward her, pushing her back until her legs bumped into her bed. Marinette pulled away as she realized what they were doing. She was kissing Chat Noir, and it wasn't just an innocent peck.

"Sorry Kitty, but we've got to take it a little slower than that." She smirked at him before flicking the bell at his neck and giving him a quick kiss on his lips. "But if you want you can stay here for the night, as long as there is no funny business."

"I would like that very much Princess." He took an unrushed moment to slowly kiss her jaw before he stepped back and allowed her to prepare the bed and herself for sleep.

It took Marinette only a couple minutes to change in her pajamas, a tank top and some shorts, and pull back the blankets on her bed. She laid under the covers and patted the bed beside her to invite Chat to lay there. He laid down next to her but was suddenly hesitant to touch her. Marinette was not, she scooted closer to him, hugging him around his chest, and laid his arm over the top of her. He grinned at her and then gently kissed her forehead. "Thank you," he whispered before he easily fell asleep to the steady rhythm of his Princess' heart and his own beating in synchronicity.

The couple jerked awake a couple hours later when they heard the door to main living space slam open. They looked over, bleary-eyed, to see Marinette's mother, halfway into the room, with her mouth hanging wide open.

"Mama," Marinette called as she jumped at of bed. She ran towards her mother and guided her the rest of the way into the room and away from the bed. She turned back to Chat and mouthed go home. He looked conflicted for a moment, but then she blew him a kiss and he reluctantly left, leaving through her balcony, but not before he sent her a kiss in reply.

Marinette smiled, but was awakened from her daydream by her mother's serious tone. "You've got a lot of explaining to do young lady." Marinette sighed and sat down with her mother in her office as she began telling a story of half-truths.
